Jumping some hurdles right now. Have a few parts on order If everything falls in place, I should be able to try and start it this weekend.
Almost there. All was going good until I did a clearence check then all bets were off. The hat was 3/4 inch to tall. I put a lower profile hat on and it now clears the hood. But had to take the unit on and off a few more times (lost count really). Had to reclock the back housing while doing some clearancing. When grinding on a $3000.00 unit, you don't want to take off more than you have to. Will take pictures tomorrow.
I was complaining to my tranny builder about hood clearance. His solution... just lower the motor. Works good with stripped down race cars. There are days I just want to throw a chevy style hood on and forget it. I am going to run two AFR guages soon and see if I have any difference between sides with the carb hat I have. What kind of clearance problems are you having with the blower? I did do a very slight "massage" on my fender liner. Looking forward to pictures.
Doug, That sounds like a good idea, but my $300.00 oil pan is even with the crossmember now. Have it all together now. I am anxious and nervus at the same time. All I need to do is put in the coolant. The bad part is I can't get it out of the garage for about three days because we just had the front bricked up.
could not take it any more had to start it. I open the main garage door by hand (disconnected the automatic opener). It started with authordy and ran well. After it warmed up I cut it off and went over all the nuts and bolts. Bad thing is when I will be able to get it out of the garage, it will be raining.
The problem I was having was a bulge on the compressior housing (bolt boss)that was keeping me from clocking to get the outlet to the proper angle that I needed to meet up with the carburetor hat (tall Posten's valve covers). One of the pictures I have on Photobucket shows me holding a 7/16 inch wrench between the unit and the inner fender. That clearance is great. The biggest problem I had is that the low profile hat that came in the kit was to tall by about 3/4 of an inch.
Short drive staying in the neighborhood did not even get to look at the guage the two times I got into boost. The back tires did not stand a chance  .
Put a short video of the car running up on U-tube. A quickly done video since I did not have much time to mess with the car yesterday. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=chlvq0GZ464
Mike Do you have power steering in there? Must be the belt slipping that I am hearing. No way are we going to sneak up on anyone. Looking really good. My motor is going to Finishline Monday.... for a spun #7 :spank: I am getting to good at this engine pulling.
At the rod run when I pulled in, someone asked if I had a BBC with a gear drive. I just said no, They do not make a gear drive for a BBB (not that I would want one). Gear drive or BBC. It is a head turner. Sorry to hear about your #7
I'm just going to play dumb (that won't be hard  ) and pretend I don't understand what they are talking about. If I open the hood will just say its the new air conditioner.
Doug, How much hot oil pressure do you run at idle? What type front cover do you have on your engine? I am running 32 pounds hot oil pressure with a TA cover (adjustable regular). At first, I was concered that I did not put in enough oil in the unit. And I was told that I need to have the belt "guitar string" tight.
Mike, I just had a stock cover and it ran 20# at 185 degrees, 800 rpm. That is consided good pressure. 34# is excellent. Bobb and I had a talk about how tight to run belts. Do not think we settled on any agreement. I am hoping that the tensioner will apply the correct pressure. You setup is easier on the crank than mine. I think you should run the least pressure that can do the job. Will see how it works out when Bobb gets my motor done.
Anyone know where I can get boost ratings for a given diameter pulley? My five inch pulley is not getting the boost I want.
