I too like bench seat column shift cars, like your Burnished saddle GS Stage 1 hardtop.
Of all your cars why is the brown car the last to go,is it your first car or most original, let me know?
Good luck with your GSX auction.

"For once, one visible with mileage and that is well kept, one would say that the world when it restores their voiture,on tendency to put back the faces to zero. (My translation is weak on this one. Any help?)"

The mileage matches the appearance of the car and goes against the tendency to reset the speedometer to alter high mileage.

    That should be close LOL

John - is that a '70 Michigan "Manufacturer's Plate" on the yellow one?

I'd be interested in the story of how you found that... :Brow:

My dad found mine at a swap meet:

That was much better...I translated it close to exact wording and knew it didn't sound quite right.

    Thanks.

I am not too attached to the showcar either since it wasn't part of me growing up like some of the other ones. Actually, one of my other red Stage 1s is the one I've had the longest, working on 30 years. The brown one too, I have had a long time, since 1984, and Richard and and I went to look at the car in the mid 70s when it wasn't for sale. I remember it as far back as 1973 when I first saw the car and it had 22,000 miles on it. Those two would definately be the last ones to go, because of all of the memories. Nope, neither of those are for sale!

Keith, those look like normal plates from '70 (3 letters - 3 digits (or vice versa)). I bought a set last summer from some guy in Niagra Falls, NY, that had never been issued. He told me that he used to work for the MI secretary of state and retired many years ago, and "ended up" with a bunch of plates that were never used. My set is brand new, not a scratch on them.

I think I paid something like $18 for them from his Ebay auction. :TU:

Piece of trivia that I learned from the waxy wrapping that they were issued with, the gold and white color of the plates for '70, are a tribute to Oakland Univeristy, in Auburn Hills. I think their mascot is a sun bear, or golden bear, or something like that. :Smarty:

The "M" in the third position denotes "Manufacturer".

If you look at my plate (12M137) it is a little more clear. The thing I like about mine is that the regular plate in 1974 was a 1973 metal plate with an adhesive sticker. Notice the "M" plate is actually stamped "74" in the corner. One of those little touches that I appreciate.

The reason this is significant is because General Motors has a policy that "M" plates are to be scrapped when they are done and not let into the public hands. I also found mine at a swap meet, new and in the original wrapper.

Just couldn't quite read the letters in the Buick picture because it is pretty small....

Whoops -- forgot to answer THAT question! Yes, it is a manufacturer Mi plate. Someone dropped it in my hands years ago and since then a friend of mine sold me an "NOS" one he found at a swap meet. So, a few of them are out there. Gee, since they all were supposed to be scrapped, maybe that'll add value to the car!

I noticed last night that it is no longer there. Someone must have deleted it. Hmmmm.

Did you put it in the "Cars for sale" section? And it may have been deleted without a "Sales price".

I put it in one of the other headings and they moved it for me. We traded some friendly E mails back and forth but the next thing I knew, it was gone. :Do No:

I don't understand the front drum brakes. I thought front disc brakes were standard on the GSX?

Hey Collector, I saw someone wanting to buy the house. You may sell both in one ad!! Heck of a car!

Disc brakes WERE standard on 70 GSX but this one slipped through without them and the records back this up.

I have actually sent the link on the house out to about 10 interested people but no one has stepped forward yet to look at it.

Very nice car John!!! Good luck selling it. Someone will pay the right amount for it. It is also posted on the turbobuick boards. I love the house and garage to if you call that a garage. My garage could never have tile because the grout would be oil colored. Very nice car!!!
