Holy Cow, that thing looks awesome!!!!!! :TU:

I would be totally down for buying the motor back! and the guages and wheels....

I had my fun with the fiat, it is going bye bye.

So yeah, I am still alive everyone, and I am so glad to see the progress on this thing! Long may she run.

Briz, did you ever look inside the trunk on the inside of the top edge of the passenger quarterpanel next to the decklid? :)

Haha... That's it! I saw that when I was playing with the car afew years ago. I forgot I put that there when I did the frame swap as an 18-year old kid. There has been more than once I wondered what the hell I was thinking then. Also, the '68 Chevelle I got the frame from was an ex-circle track car with a caddy 472, hence why you saw strange holes and welds by the motor mounts, and the strange front wheel camber.

Im as done as I will ever be with the body work. Filled in all the holes with cloth and resin and made patches from the panels of old A/C units for the rear 1/4's and L door bottom.Put in and sanded off about a 1/2 gal of bondo. Bumpers are all rusted and pitted so I'll just paint them too. I taped off the car yesterday and shot it in Rustolium indrustrial primer and weather permiting do the finish coat today.
Sat is the next Test N Tune at SGMP. sposed to be in the upper 40's in the morning and dri. Cant wait to see what it does.

Ok heres the finished pics. Its as done as it will ever be. Going to the track to run it tomorrow morning. I watched Captain America a few weeks ago and it inspired the paint design. After I put all the bits and pieces back on I rolled across the scales and she weighed in at 3150 with a 1/4 tank of fuel. A little more portly than I had hoped. I think I can find another hundred pounds to chop out somewhere. Going to start a new thread called Captain America Skylark once I get the stickers put on.

Well not much to bag about except it went down the track in a straight line. I got the test part done OK but never got to the tuning. When I got back to the pit after my run the lower core of the radiator let loose and that was the end of my day.
Car felt pretty good. There is some tuning to be done. Being her 1st run I didn't lay all the way into it. Time slip reads like this...
    RT .021
    60' 1.87
    330' 5.82
    1/8 9.017 @ 74.49 mph
    1000' 12.041
    1/4 14.069 @ 92.18

There was a hesitation at the start when I got into the secondaries. Just sort of coughed for a split second and in the upper end of the RPM's it was starting to break up a little. I recorded my tune, air temp and tire pressure before the run for reference.

I got The radiator fixed. Cut out the offending rotted lower tube. 20.00. I bought a MSD set up from a buddy for 100.00 and a set of 8.5 mm spiral core wires. Will put that together today. If all goes well back to the track tomorrow. I know,:Dou: I tossed the budget out the window. Still under 3K.

As always, I am focused on this thread! I am glad to see that she still has blue around the rear clip. My rating insignia is a twisted wrench and a nut if you want to put an Afgan Vet's rating badge somewhere on it! I enjoy this thread, and I am glad to know her fate is a drag car and not parts scattered across the country. Calling dibs on the motor, three wheels and the guages! :TU:

    KFD...

Still alive, and not wasting time with funny Italian cars.

The slashed tire is still on the wheel laying in the back of my truck waiting for Tyler to send me a replacement. I may end up going another direction if he cant get it shipped soon.

Funny story about that day. I ran aginst a car numbered 14. I was # 4. when I got to the booth to pick up my slip I mis read it and thought I was 14. He ran a 11.5 @ 125. I thought it was my time and was understandably very excited. The next 4 runs I couldnt get under 13 and couldnt figure out why. LOL. What a maroon!

Success!!! I made my goals last night. A little over the budget but still respectable. After going through 3 trans / converter combos and weeks of having the car up on blocks 3' off the ground I had a good night at the track. Last night it ran 3 back to back low to mid 12 runs. My 60' times were consistently 1.6 ish, 1/8th was 7.7s and the 1/4 12.3,-12.4 and 12.5. What I don't understand is how the MPH can vary so much and have the times so close. I ran 12.4@ 106 then 12.3 @ 104 and the last pass of the night around 10pm 12.5 @96. Still happy with the car and now ready to run "Heads Up Havoc" next Sat morning. I'm into this car for under 4K.
