You could try making your own end links

It isn't a perfect solution, but you might be able to make it work with adjustable end links. Adjustable end links are common in road racing cars because they allow you to tune the suspension to your needs on a given track. They're also common in those really jacked-up off-road suspension kits for Jeeps. In your case, however, you might be able to get end links and just adjust them out so your bar fits where you need it to. It's a little less than elegant, but it might just work; it's better than getting stuck with one that doesn't fit.

I would see what is out there for GM adjustable end link packages first, as there are lots of Camaro/Firebird kits out there. If you come up dry there, here is directions on making your own:

Admittedly, it's on a BMW site, but I think the same basic principles could easily be applied to your application.

Re: You could try making your own end links

It came with really short end links as a start. I don't see how any shorter ones would even be possible to get bolted up. And if you saw how these Rivs are built and how the bar fits you'd see it is too short. When I laid the new bar next to the old one I saw it was too short, but I installed it anyway.

    I'll measure tonight...

But thanks to Mike Tweedy at Year One!!! Mike contacted ADDCO for me, and the ADDCO tech, Dan Osborne, called me back. I'll be sending my new bar AND a spare stock 69 Riv bar back to them. He'll make it right and send the new one and my stock one back again.

I'll post the measurements of the stock one and new one, as well as pics to show the difference in length.

    I'll keep y'all informed!

I have 2 original 69 sway bars. The spare one I have measures 49 7/8" center of link hole to center of link hole. The new ADDCO one only measures 48 1/2".

I'm shipping them both back to ADDCO tomorrow. Will keep all posted.

    Re: okay..

Hey Buick528 (what's your first name?), what does the ADDCO bar measure? I have mentioned you to the ADDCO rep and I hope he will offer to swap your incorrect ADDCO bar for a new one when they get them corrected. I have shipped an original 69 Riviera sway bar back to them with the return of their "wrong" sway bar. They'll use it as a template so we should all get a good fitting bar the next time we order one!

There's a guy that used to work for ADDCO that now has his own shop in FL. He does the specialty work for ADDCO, and can bend up custom work. I contacted him about a bigger bar for the front of my 64 Rivi, and he says "Can Do". He said I'd have to send him my skinny stock bar so that it will clear the oil pan OK and have the bends & etc in the right places. Might be the way to go on the Rivis and Cats. I'll find his name and contact info and post if there is interest. Tom Telesco (telriv) turned me on to him.

    Welp..

I already spoke to this same guy way_back_when my problem started. He is good on product and knows what I have isn't right...
He wanted me to bring my car to him and he would use it as a template for the future. He does the *pattern* work for ADDCO. ADDCO offices moved to North Carolina from Lake Park, Fla (WPB area) there is a new sole ADDCO distributor located in Johnson City, TN. but he has NO technical product knowledge at all...
This guy is in the Lake Worth, Fla area as well, about 1 1/2 hours from me..
