And if I can, I'll put it on tonight. This thing is probably 1/4" thicker than what's on there from GM. Should make quite a difference!

    :TU:
They make one specifically for our Rivs?
Or is it kind of a universal fit type of part?
I'd like one for the Rear for sure.

They are made specific to your year/make/model. I'll snap a pic of the rear I installed, and of the new and old fronts next to each other.

The rear is held on OK, but hangs REAAAAALLLL LOW. I'm going to rectify that this winter with some fabrication (my brother is a bitchin' machinist and can fab anything.

The front is really enormous. The rear made an immediate positive difference. The back sticks now when you turn instead of wallowing all over. I gotta believe with my new front shocks and this sway bar it'll corner pretty good for a 30 year old barge.

    I got mine from:

    Firm Feel
    2730 NW Bliss Rd
    Vancouver, WA 98685
    360-574-8093
    Attn: Dick

Dick was cool and pleasant to deal with. I got the rear one pretty quick, but the front was 3+ months in the waiting. They were out of stock and weren't scheduled to be made again until now. Some should be in stock already.

    Front PN# 530 1 1/8" 170$
    Rear PN# 933 1" 160$

They are from ADDCO. Pretty nice, includes all mounting hardware (fronts come with poly bushings and endlinks).

    I bet!
Those lower control arms nearly scrape the ground by themselves.

AHHHHHHHH!!!!!!! The front sway bar is too narrow!!!! By about 2"! I have no suspension travel before it hits the frame! Both sides. It is centered and all. I'll call them Monday and see what they say. What a waste of TIME!!!!!

I got a 11/4 incher for my GS last year. I had to use a floor jack to hold that big dude in place while I bolted it up! It always gets the surprised looks from people when they see that thing! Brian :jd:

When this came up before I added the ADDCO part numbers to the Year One system (1-800-950-9503).

    AD530*** and AD933*** (specify color black-BLK or gold-GLD and rubber-R or urethane-U bushings.

PRICE IS ONLY $139.00. (Call it a BPG club special courtesy of yours truly)

I'll have to look up the numbers, but I believe I added them for later 71-up Rivs/Electras as well!

    Hi Mike.
I am waiting on a return call from ADDCO's tech. I don't know what he'll say, but I have a feeling he's going to swear his part is right and I just didn't install it right. Well, I've rebuilt this front end before, and I even put the old one back on Saturday morning and was able to get it right both times. The ADDCO piece is just too short. You can see it when you look. There's a space above the lower control arm between the backing plate and the frame where the arm HAS to fit in order to work, and the ADDCO piece is just too short.

Can you help me in any way if I get the run-around?

Oh, and I paid $160 for the rear and $170 for the front. Your price is AWESOME!

    furiousgoat Sold goat, bought Buick!

I'm quite sure mine were even cheaper through Performance Suspension Technology(PST). I can dig up an address if anyone needs it. Mine was for my GTO. 1 1/4 front and a 1in rear. If my memory serves me right it was 130 for the front and 100 for the rear. But I don't think there should be that much difference in A_bodies. I'm sure they list them for Buicks also.

Cheaper by the dozen, though Matt. They sell a zillion A-body bars a year, and 2 Riviera bars. That's the way I figure it.

    Yup..

I got the same one for my '70 Wildcat, same problems you have.

I still have it....they say something is *wrong* with my car and wouldn't make good on the return for a refund...

Just another in the long list of advertised parts that don't fit the application that they were designed for. In my next lifetime, I'm either going to be a weather man, or an aftermarket Buick parts vendor. In either case, you never have to be right, yet you get to keep your job.

Something wrong with your car?? That's the best one I've heard yet. I would have reached through the phone and ripped that a-holes larynx out. Do they teach these people anything about the products they sell or are they just told to give these canned answers and insult the crap out of you while taking your money? :blast: :blast: :blast: :blast: :blast: :blast:

    Here's an idea...

    Mmnnnnn..

    Let's do this....

Since we have a new club going, and are developing good contacts in the industry ....

If one of you guys with the offending piece, can get some pics on the installation problems, maybe, we can get the actual manufacturing vendor to alter the product, so it fits correctly.

What we need are good, detailed photo's, to prove our point here.

Individuals who call with problems often get ignored, unfortuantly, by the bigger companies, especially when it comes to the more obscure applications. But if a large vendor calls, and works with key indivduals in the manufacturing firm, often times, things can be accomplished.

Unfortuantely, often things boil down to dollars.. the simple fact is that a major multi-line vendor is going to have much more pull with some of these manufacturing outfits, than indivduals are.

That is what your new club (the BPG) is actively doing for you these days, even if no one is standing on a mountain top, proclaiming it... often most of this type of work gets done quietly, as time schedules are often rather vauge.

A perfect case in point, for an example, are the window felts for the A bodies. There is an ongoing effort, between a major vendor, and a manufacturer, to "get it right", and the club is working closely with one of our members, who also happens to work for the vendor, who is attempting to sort this whole deal out. At some point in this process, we will need some pieces for patterns for these felts, and when we get that far, the request will go out, to find these...

This is what a club is all about.. and working to secure/finance/produce these hard to find parts is a major founding priciple of the BPG..

I have no idea on if this will be recieved well or not, or if anything can be done, at this time.. but I can find out.. and it will not hurt to try..

We may need an OE swaybar for a pattern, besides the pics of the aftermarket bars install problems.

It certainly can't hurt to ask.. and is a constructive way of resolving these types of issues.

Jim, regarding the window felts that are still on B/O for individuals like me... has the BPG taken over getting Alan's order completed, or is that still between Alan and Repops, and me? Alan and I communicated a few weeks ago, and I guess that issue wasn't really addressed then, he just stated that, yes, there were some still on B/O, including my 68 GS HT felts, and that the BPG was dealing with the correctness issues.

Oy. I'll put the new bar back on and take pics. Man, that's 4 hours of crawling on my back... Also, I have a spare front sway bar and was going to offer it to ADDCO when (if?) they ever call me. I'll let everyone know what they say. Hopefully the pics and the original bar as a template will get us a good part.
