Oh, and the front end rebuild kit was $319.95 in my current catalog, $349.95 on the website, and I have a voicemail saying it's now $409.95!

    What's up with that?!?

Same experience. If you call YO they will tell you item per item as you make the order whether it is in stock. If they do not have it is unusual and you get it quickly thereafter even if out. On the other hand when you call OPGI they tell you at the end of the order all the things they do not have which in my experience happens a lot. When they tell you how long the back orders will take, my experience is to take that with a grain of salt. For this reason if I can get it at YO I go there.

Also YO ships really quickly and OPGI well I have to say it takes a long time even if in stock--usually days to get it out and days to come to the east coast from Cal.

    Ken,
You may be able to save yourself a little money on those items.
Rock Auto is a little cheaper on the same springs, plus there is a thread on 5% off with them here:
    http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=39675&highlight=rock+auto

You may be able to find a better deal on the other suspension parts too. I seem to remember some threads on them lately, a little searching should find them.

    Ken,
    This is what bothers me;
    1 PR TRW5536 70/72 CHEVELLE COIL SPRING B/B 1 94.95

BB Chevelles and BB Buicks do not weigh the same. If you use the chevelle springs the front end height may change.

I always order via phone even if internet order is avaialable so you may question if parts in stock.

It took 30 days to get a B/O Tunnel Hump.

Also keep a look out about certain parts and prices between chevelle and skylarks/GS's!

Certain parts in the Gs book are more than in the Chevelle book just because it is a Buick... This works both ways!! I have both books and compared! Some prices are like 10 dollars more in the GS book for the same exact number!!

    Taking advantage I think!!:moonu:

This is Yearone Im talking about I dont know about OPG

my friend had the same problem with opg and the same deal happened with the prices being hiked way up from what they were listed in the catalog. we both decided we would stick with what works ,T/A and Year One !!!!!!

Well, thanks for the responses guys. I think I'll cancel the whole order! It doesn't sound too good.

Duane I got the spring part number from the last post in this thread. I also saw it in a few other posts doing searches here. If this is wrong, somebody speak up please.

I checked out rockauto.com per Steve's suggestion and it looks like their prices are very good overall. I looked up the Moog part numbers and came up with the following pricing:

    Upper Ball Joint K5108 $16.98
    Lower Ball Joint K5103 $20.79
Inner Tie Rod End ES406L $38.79
Outer Tie Rod End ES406R $38.79
    Idler Arm K5143 $24.79
Upper Control Arm Bushings K5196 $7.73
Lower Control Arm Bushings K6076 $14.30
    Adjustment Sleeves ES2004S $8.91
Upper Control Arm Shaft Kit K5250 $35.99
Sway Bar Link Kit K8266 $5.20
    Sway Bar Bushing K5253 $4.72
    Center Link DS749 $51.79
    Front Springs 5536 $82.79

BTW, those part numbers are for a '71 Chevelle SS on the Rock Auto site per Dustin's suggestion and cross reference to the Moog part numbers for the GS that can be obtained from the Federal Mogul site. The springs were not listed with the GS items in either place.

Are the collective experiences positive with Rock Auto?? If so, I'll place my order here.

Also, this started out as a question about OPGI's performance. I think it's going to turn into a suspension discussion.

Would a mod move it to the correct forum please?

    Thanks

    Ken,

Don't even THINK of buying hundreds of dollars in parts without first calling Duane or Jim W and discussing it with them.

They will tell you where to get what and which items to buy.

Cuz, take advantage of the knowledge that is the BPG!

Or I'll come to your house and spit on all your cars.:Smarty: :moonu:

Hi Ken. I always get all my parts at autozone or advanced auto. They have most parts in stock or can get them next day. Everything from suspension bushings to loaded rebuilt disk brake calipers for 60 bucks for the pair. Go local, its much cheaper for the same parts.

    Ken,

I added those up for $351.57. If you can use that 5% discount code, it'll total $333.99 before shipping.

This might be a little late in posting but you might want to check on KANTER AUTO PATRS in N.J.,all thier parts are guaranted for life and they sell quality parts for low prices.
    Good luck in your quest,

Ah, my day isn't complete unless I've been threatened by Yardley!

Hey Jeff, you spit on my Chivvies everytime you come over anyway, does this mean you'll start spitting on my Buick??? :eek2:

Seriously, I did talk to Jim W a while back about front end components. He said he buys local and didn't have anything special to say, other than buy a quality brand. We didn't talk about springs, and so I'm still curious about part numbers. In searching here, basically all I could come up with (besides the GSCA springs- I'm not currently a member) was the 5536 number. I think I had read in a thread here that the YO springs were nothing special (dropped shipped off the shelf numbers), despite their custom made pricing. :Do No:

I started with OPGI because their pricing was better for quality Moog parts than what I was getting local. Hey, I'm trying to save where I can! This hobby is expensive! Just ask my wife.

Steve, the prices I listed were eaches, so when you start putting multiples of items in their, I'm saving more money! :Brow:

Rob, I went to the Autozone website and they didn't list every part I was looking for as available. I didn't try searching as a Chevelle entry, so maybe there would be more available under that car listing?? :Do No: Most of what they carried was Perfect Circle, so I'm sure those parts would be quality. For some they list the brand as "Rare Parts", whatever that means?? For example, that's all they list for the lower ball joint and that's a special order. OEM maybe? Maybe they don't list everything on their website??

As far as Kanter, or YO, this post by Bill Bell (12lives) is what sent me originally in search of Moog (and OPG):

    snip...
I am rebuilding the front end on my 70 GS...slowly !!!
I checked with Kanter, YO, summit and PST and found that they do not manufacture their parts and only resell the non specialty items (tie rods, ball joints, etc). They could not tell me who they use because it changes from time to time depending on who wins the bid.....

I settled on OPG as they sell the MOOG kit "made in America" (except the link - mexico). Most folks I talk to say MOOG is the best. It was not the cheapest, but I think you get what you pay for. It is OEM (rubber) and thats what I wanted. The kit price was cheaper then my local jobber. The parts came fairly quickly, a few things were back order but no problem with my schedule.....

Make sure you order TWO upper shafts, if you need them, as they are sold individually... They come with the offset.
    snip...

That made me leary of Kanter/YO, but of course now I'm leary of OPG as well! :Do No: :Do No:
