You should be able to make that little ZX2 go pretty quick... my brother used to own one of those and it was pretty peppy. I think in stock form it should do mid-15s in the 1/4. The ultimate sleeper 4 banger buy a dodge omni glh-s, put a bigger turbo. remove glh-s badges, paint it an ugly tan. borrow my grandmas clothes, wear a wig, put a few grocery bags and stuffed animal in the rear window.
I agree with the nitrous idea. There's a guy I streetrace with that runs spray on his Focus, and routinely smokes V-8 mustangs....
Rice cars have an advantage in weight and more recently AWD grip. If it's power-to-weight you're going to try and increase to make a winner a FWD will not have it. Why not play to your strengths with that car? Go for lightening...
i think you should do stuff to the ford! heres what i would do. get the cold air intake, buy full exhaust, grab the manifold, get a new throttle body and MAF....maybe buy some MSD ignition to help the spark, buy a light wieght flywheel and then reflash the computer.....that should gain you up to maybe 35+ hp....if everything is matched....if you want to go further maybe do a minor port job on the heads and get you some custom grind cams to match up with the rest of your mods. after that maybe throw some spray or a small turbo to give you well over 200whp :Brow: fast is fast...doesn't matter what you drive...cause if a 528 BBB pulls up to you with 700+hp or a nissan silvia with a 2.0 liter 4banger with 650+hp pulls up beside of you, both are fast and powerful and cost money! here is a guy that lives in raliegh 2000 Civic Si Turbo 616.7whp/374.3 ft-lb torque 28psi More in it! 11.2@132mph i've seen his video's of him launching and once he can get it to launch proper then he will be go sub 11's and i know there is a lot of money in that but i've looked into a lot of cars, Nissan 240sx, buy the turbo and an intercooler for the ka24de (2.4liter inline 4cly) and pump around 8-11psi and you can have a very streetable 300hp at the wheel and thanks to rear wheel drive and lack of weight, you can run high 12's, it has been done. thats with spending about 5000 bucks at the most, i've priced it out.found the right car and everything, but i love buick too much to change right now... buy a acura integra, 1.8liter inline 4 and either do a type R style engine up and you can run 12's all day N/A or for about the same price buy a turbo kit and get a touch more HP with just the slight turbo lag (but if you pick the right turbo you will barely feel it) again maybe 6000 bucks in a project like that heck...i've found a place that builds turbo kits for my dad's toyota corolla, 2500 bucks for it shipped to NC and get a few other odds and ends, plant about 230hp to the ground and that would be good for mid 13's and still get about 26-30mpg :eek2: all these could be done, tastefully and they are getting cheaper all the time, heck i still wouldn't mind a nissan 300zx twin turbo v6 and rear wheel drive. for under 10grand (including the car) you could get it into the 11's without any trouble at all now i'm keeping my 72 buick, and it shall rise up this summer now that i have some cash....but i LOVE any car. i could build any car to go fast and i would love it all...but there is something about buicks that i can't get enough of. do you guys think i have a problem? o No: daniel
No, you dont have a problem. I see it as "play the hand you are dealt". If you have a 4 banger, it will indeed cost much more to go fast. So what if you dont have the impressive hp/tq numbers common to V8s. I see it as fun. Me for example, I have a saturn...all of the bolt on modifications...is it fast? no, not at all. Did I have fun getting it to where it is now? Hell yeah. Is it much more fun to drive? Definitely. My buddies saturn is putting down 304.5whp/300lb ft....in a car tipping the scales at around 2350lb. Fast is fast. Ok I'm done ranting. But anyhow...Nitrous is without a doubt the best bang for the buck.
