There's a reason there are signs in all the National Parks saying "don't feed the animals". It's because they give up finding their own food.

What’ll it run? I kinda figure that, if people with flat hoods are quicker, don’t use the scoop. If you’re in the 10s or 11s, then by all means…

Getting government assistance requires being coherent enough to fill forms and often an address. Most homeless people around here are mentally ill or substance addicted (or both) and are unlikely to meet those standards.

Try Seattle one of the worst sewers on the West Coast tarps and derelict vehicles all line the streets and now the suburbs I can’t even go to my local grocery store without the homeless with Signs the drug addicts hiding behind the building
Needless to say car thefts and purse snatching are prevalent at that store
The homeless line the offramp‘s and a lot of other intersections yet our county buys hotels for them to live in for free with our tax dollars
The freeway exit I take to get home every day has someone there every day sometimes they claim their Vietnam vets but way too young sometimes they dress nicer than me that’s coming home from work and sometimes you see the same car parked a block away as a scam people for money

I used to see them everyday going home from work here in Alabama but they haven't been around for a while. The last time I saw them a policeman was talking to them. Have not seen them since.

Maybe he is like my niece’s unemployed boyfriend, can’t find a job that “fits his lifestyle". He isn’t hungry or homeless as my niece supports him, “but he loooves me so much” she says. Had a minor brewha at thanksgiving (he didn’t show up because he claims nobody likes him) when he called and wanted my niece to bring over a plate of food (1/2 hour trip to him, 1/2 hour back) at 1:00pm right when we were eating because he was hungry and she forgot to make him anything for lunch. My B-I-L spoke his mind and it didn’t go over very well with her.

They're even braving the frozen tundra around my area. Many are regulars who must be getting enough free cash to continue.

I've noticed making any eye contact quickly brings them to your window. I always look away now, plus don't carry any change.

We have much of the same in Asheville, NC. I've offered unopened food to so called homeless people only to be turned down. Many panhandle to avoid paying taxes, fines, or alimony.

Wow, about 35 posts bashing the homeless and one showing some sympathy. Pretty heartless thread.

This has been going on for a really long time. When I lived in StPete in the late 80's and 90's There were always people on the corners and intersections begging. I had started a painting company, bit off a bigger job than I could really do on my own and tried to get some of these guys to work and got turned down several times offering 5$ an hour when min wage was 3.35.

On the way to church one morning and a pan handler was on the exit ramp. Son was about 5yrs old. He wanted to give the guy a dollar cause he felt bad for him. City cop right behind us tagged the guy as soon as we pulled off for what im guessing was bagging or pan handling. Joey thought it was his fault.

I for one have not "Bashed" anyone

I think most of the people out panhandling are not homeless, are not hungry, are not disabled, are not Viet Nam Vets, etc... They are just lazy people who would rather beg for money than work a real job.

Blame all the dishonest ones that ruined the sympathy for the legit ones,...that's all we're doing

There isn't a doubt in my mind I could walk away from everything and everyone and start over with 0 dollars and be on my feet in 3 months ,..it's called WILL,...sure lots of them have lost it,...are truly disabled,...and got dealt alone of shitty hands,....then there are the meth heads and crack heads who give into temptation and ruined their life,.....they get sympathy to a degree,..none of us are perfect,...BUT,..we have a brain that allows us to decide what's best for us,...and their repeated actions of disregarding that and continuing to destroy themselves,.....gets no hand out from me

For such a deep thinker Steve you only look at things at face value and try to twist and manipulate others words to fit your stance. You do realize we see through it every time don't you
