    Darryl Roederer Life is good

Last night I made a late grocery run. Took a short-cut behind the mall where a few would be street fighters are known to hang out. As I come to the stop sign, a ricer in some japanese something or other sitting at the other side of the innersection revs it and pops the clutch. Little motor screams for all it's worth, and lays about 20 feet of rubber and a tiny little puff of white smoke

I look in the rear view and see him turn into the parking lot where about 7 or 8 other "would be's" greet him with hand clapping and cheers as if he had actually acomplished something.

I'm driving my 79 Cadillac Sedan DeVille. It's got a 425 cid. I'v done a little power tuning on it. Even tho it's a smogger motor in a 5000 lb. car, it's still a big block, and has that legendary Cadillac torque. Also, it's got a big hole in the muffler, so it sounds pretty mean,,, but it's not "fast" by any means.

Well, I make my grocery run, and head home on the same road. At the stop sign, just for fun, I punch it from a stop and lay about 30 feet of non-posi rubber. As I pass the parking lot entrance, I put it in neutral, and rev the engine a couple of times. I look over and see one of the guys there pointing and laughing..... Man, that just hurts my pride :af:

At first, I was going to go around the block and do a for real burn-out, but then the non posi thing came to mind, so I did a U-turn instead so they could get a full view of the action comming from the passenger side rear

I came to a ful stop about 100 feet from the parking lot entrance, put it in neutral, and gave it 4 or 5 good loud revs. Droped her back in "D" and brake-torked it. Just as the giant cloud of tire smove completely envelops my car, the tranny shifts to second. Look down at the speedo, and it climbs to 50 mph. I feathered the gas pedal to keep it at that exact speed so it would not shift into 3rd, and eased up on the brakes just a little so the car began to move forward at about a 5 mph roll.

Still roasting the rear tire, I rolled it past the parking lot, looked over and saw a bunch of dropped jaws and big eyes, thru the stop sign, and another 250 feet down the road. About 500 feet of tire smoke and black marks, when all of a sudden POW!!!!!!! The rear tire blows  :Brow:

So I get off the gas pedal, and limp another 100 feet or so down the road to a street light so I can change the tire. Out of the fog-bank of tire smoke, 6 guys come running to where I'm parked. A couple of them are cheering and clapping. One is laughing his a$$ off, and the rest are making comments about how cool that was!!! By this time, I'v got the trunk open. One of them makes the comment "What happened? Did you blow the motor up or something?"

"Nope, just exploded the rear tire..."
They all moved a little closer to get a look at the tire, and I made the comment "That was a brand-new tire, just bought it a few days ago"

    Total silence
After about 30 seconds, one of them looked up at me and said "Buddy, THAT was F***ing incredible....."
They were nice enough, or maybe RESPECTFULL enough to help me change the tire, and I then went home,,, My pride restored :TU:

So now I'v got to go buy another new tire.... But it was worth it :bglasses:

Awesome story, I bet since it is a peg leg and has a big block, it may not be fast off the line but I bet she pulls at higher speeds. :Brow: :3gears: :TU:
