This has always been one of my favorites! Limited production, like 500-900 made, and only in 1977. Believe it or not, there are two of them on ebay right now. I need a 2nd job...... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=2483558141&category=6173
I had one just exactly like your top one back in the early 90's. Same red interior and everything. I loved it, and I'd love to have another one someday. It was my daily driver and I drove to and from the track every weekend running 14.0's @ 99.9x with great gas mileage. I won a ton of races and trophys with that car. I even drove it all winter with little 13" studded snow tires on the back. I lived out in the boondocks and drove about 30 minutes to work everyday. That thing would go through anything! I had no plans or reason to ever get rid of it, but one day while I was filling up at a local gas station, a guy offered to trade me "even up" for his 63 Impala 2dr, and since I'm a "classic car" guy at heart, I just couldn't resist the trade. The 63 had quite a bit of bondo in it, but it looked awesome from 10 feet, had a beautiful interior and ran like a champ. o No: Man I still miss that Mirage though! ou: :ball: I just bought a set of fiberglass Mirage quarter panel flares and rear spoiler to put on my tubbed Monza. :Brow:
had one, v8 305, 4spd tranny. ran like a bat out of hell. roled it, went over three times before it stoped on its wheels. all twisted to crap. was a nice car though
I hate to say it... especially on this board ...... But the Roadhawk has nothing on the Mirage in my opinion. But I don't like the "2 headlight" Monza's either. They look MUCH better with the "4 headlight" design. o No:
I love the 4 headlight fronts too. So much that I removed the 2 headlight, and replaced it with the one I liked on my coupe. Oh, also did the Buick 350 swap. Car is gone now....... Its on my wifes left hand. :ball: I have to agree that the Mirage is the coolest of all those little H-Bodies. Only cause it has such a history. I mean, they added those body flares to make the car look as if it was Nascar! I mean that is cool! I hate Nascar, but I love the fact that this came factory! -Jon
I've always loved those H bodies. Had a 75 Skyhawk new. I bought one a couple years ago to relive my youth. Here's a picture of it when I got it...well after a week of cleaning anywayou: .
Ok Jon, sell me your 71 Skylark conv and with the big money I will pay for it, you can go out and by a Skyhawk or Mirage! If you think finding parts for your Skylark is tough wait until you look for Skyhawk/Mirage parts! Oh yes, my offer still stands at $500 for your convertible. I don't need to see it or drive it! I think that is generous since you are doing some bodywork and paint prep! I have seen your work after you have been drinkin!:Brow:   :beer
That's the truth!! There is nothing , I mean nothing available for these things. Whenever I find something, I latch onto it. A couple of weeks ago a guy near Cincinnati parted out a 75 Monza. I got the 1/4 glass (both sides), windshield, lt ft fender, ft and rear bumpers complete with shocks, supports and covers, a manual steering box, complete set of trim, a steering column with Chevy sport wheel and some other odds & ends for $100. Quite the deal. You buy what you can when you can. To find NOS parts is next to impossible. I'm real good at google searches now. You MUST have a parts manual to find parts for them. It ain't easy...
Brad, If you need something else for your car, Skyhawk, let me know. Occassionaly these will show up here in the local FL yards. Last one was a 78 Skyhawk last Oct/Nov. You can email me directly at GStage1@buickperformance.com
