I would have a hard time paying for the diagnostic time and repair if in fact the problem turns out to be mis-assembly by the machine shop. Did you supply the parts? My machine shop guy puts a wheel on all hi-perf stuff he does, with the well-documented crap parts out there (even in Chevyland).

First off the rebuild was to be a stock rebuild . I supplied stock stage 1 cam, rollmaster TC, TA lifters, ta pushrods, rocker assys, pistons (stock as well) TA stainless valves, TA springs and reused original retainers.
So with it being a stock rebuild I imagine he decided it was not important to degree that cam which happened to be 7 degrees out Cl was to be 109 on the card and it was really 116.
A lot of the diagnosing was "the carb is bad" It was sent out and deemed to be working fine. The manifold was cracked that was checked twice. 3 intake gaskets one set of rubber end rails and a locating pin were ruined.
I still have yet to hear form him on the bill. tomorrow noght is the next time the shop will be open and I am at the firehouse:(

man John, that's horrible to hear. i mean now you're paying for the ineptitude of people because they're bad at what they do, at least in that situation. why you should be penalized for their screwups and guessing games will forever be a mystery. good luck. next time think about getting an engine lift and stand, a bunch of tools, and having at it ;)

Next time you meet new people and they ask what you do for a living, instead of saying "I'm a mechanic" , just tell them you're a sheppard. People won't ask advice! (Learned that from a friend tired of giving free advice about electrical work. "Can you just look at it and tell me what I need to do?"):spank: You need me to come over, look at it, pay me fairly , and everyones happy. THATS what you need to do!

Just got my car back from semi-local A/C shop. Well known, good reputation manager who's a car guy. Has a few 60s-70s (I think he said hes got 8 cars). His wife and my wife work together. Either putting the car into the bay or pulling it back out, someone slammed the door on the seatbelt while on the door sill, scratching the daylights out of it. Its a brand new sillplate. " I don't know how that could have happened." There was also oil on the new black interior." Must be a problem with the seatbelt." Never happened before while I'm getting in or out. Don't trust anyone these days.
