Wow, the time has flown by. Great event. Met a bunch (more) V8buick.com folks today. More pics - Verizon service in BG is non-existent. It's handed off to a partner carrier from what I understand so the service is awfully slow & takes forever to upload pics. Took a lot today but will have to wait until I get home to upload all. I saw very little racing - Less than at any previous Nationals. For me this time, there was too much other stuff to do but I has a lot of prearranged parts deals to take care of. Finally has to stop & actually look at some cars today. These are all pics of @70GREENROCKETS red stripper '70 Stage 1 4-sp. & Jerry Wilson's Flame Orange'72 Stage 1 in the concours class.
Wish I'd have known you were here Brian. Even asked someone & he wasn't sure. I'm headed out 1st thing. We'll catch up next year.
Denny Manner w/the block @STAGE III found & some rare experimental parts, some of which he said unexpectedly just showed up at the show this week from guys who had them stashed & one of which was an aluminum Stage 1 head from way back when. Enjoyed hearing John tell that whole story of finding that block from start to finish to myself, @Mike Sobotka (who brought 5 GSX's & a Flame orange '72 Stage 1 to the event!) & @docgsx
One hot air car in attendance that I saw. This thing was amazing from Caledonia Michigan from what I understand
Sorry to hear there are still issues at the border. Several years ago I went to Toronto (from Michigan) for some training and on the way back the US border patrol pulled me and a half-dozen others off to the side. They made us get out and go about 100' from our vehicles, then a pickup with a large box on the back went up and down the row. They x-rayed our vehicles before we could go back into the US. I certainly didn't want to be strip-searched by the mountainous men these agents were so I kept my mouth shut but that's the first time I've ever had a border issue. Of course it was "random".
Sounds like your cars went through a VACIS inspection. VACIS stands for "Vehicle and Cargo Inspection System". It uses Gamma Rays to check for various contraband. US Customs agents view the images on their computers, then decide whether to further inspect or release you. Nothing to worry about, unless you're attempting something illegal. Been through many of these over the years hauling freight. Only get a bit concerned when I'm told to back into a dock and bring all my paperwork inside. Pro tip: ALWAYS be polite to any Customs Officer. Answer their questions truthfully, but don't offer extra information. They know what to ask being they're exceptionally good at their job. Oh, it's always random. I've actually asked about that.
Great stuff thanks for posting pics and video everyone. Hope more gets posted next week when everyone gets home.
We finished our day like this, in the winners Circle of the GSR class for 2021! Thanks to Cody, Steve Reynolds, Alan and Ethan (Hugger), for all of the great things they were able to do to make this GSR class a big success this year!
