Larry, upon further review I do believe that the new torque converter is the major factor in shaving .6 off my time. My old converter was just garbage at the 2-3 shift. compare the #s
    old-60'=1.888
new JW 60'=1.817 which is not a huge difference but I wasn't having an issue down low.
    Old 1/4=13.1@99.21
New 1/4=12.51@106.38 this leads me to believe I picked up the majority of my time after the launch especially at the 2-3 shift and through 3rd gear.
Please correct me if my logic is flawed
    Thanks
    Cliff

I think your transmission was slipping in 3rd gear before. Fixing that and the new converter made the difference. You should be able to get the 60' down some, even with the 3.08 gear. Try playing with the launch RPM. Off idle, and getting up on the converter prior to launch. See what technique gives you the best 60'.

You are probably right. Hugger said it's got 12.2s in it if I get the launch right. If that is true I will find a way to drop 200lbs and eak into the 11 second club. You gotta have goals right? How much if any do you think removing the front sway bar will help?

It helps to have as much torque multiplication as possible. Gears are multipliers of torque, so deeper gears get you there if you can hook. The 3.08's hurt a bit here. I think you are running great. 106 MPH trap speed is mid 12's, and that is where you are. My best 60' is a 1.62. I did that with the switch pitch! The fixed pitch converter didn't really help me very much with my 60', but I was able to tie with the switch pitch at 1.62. I have a 9.5" from JW that I should get within a week. It is a full 10 lbs lighter than my current converter. I'm hoping to get a 1.5x 60'. You have to experiment with tire pressure, launch RPM, and ignition timing to find what the engine wants.

You'll need more horsepower to hit 11's at least 110mph, 12.20's would be with a low 1.60 ft, it's possible but you will need more gear more than likely

Hey Cliff... my early passes at Desoto Memorial Dragway (1993) in my 72, 350-4 auto SunCoupe were about the same as what you experienced. I ran 3 passes just for fun, 15:06, 15:04 15:02 ...pretty consistant times. Speed was like 91mph. I thot I was screamin down that 1320, yeahh buddy!
Fernando Alvare tried to convince me to bracket race the ole gal!
