FWIW, Mint Turquoise for the GTO, which I believe is the same color, is the rarest color for the GTO aside of Orbit Orange, which was Judge-only. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the same case for the GS.

There's a guy I know on LI that has a mint turquiose 70 Judge. He told me it was super rare on the Ponchos. Olds had the same color too- reef turquiose

The daily car reports dont break it down to that extent. It will tell you how many were a certain color, or how many had a combination of two particular options. Buick never broke it down to that amount of detail. We can only hypothesize(sp- hope Andrew isnt reading this!) about the rest. As I said in a previous post, with only 664 cars, the chances of two cars being made exactly alike with all the same options is pretty slim.

    4784 Flint 455 hardtops
438 cars painted Fire red in Flint.

9.16% of the total were Fire red.

So if that percentage were applied to the 664 Stage 1 4 speeds, its possible that Buick painted 60 of the cars Fire red

You also have to look out for statistics which are not independant of each other.

For example, lets say that 10% of all cars had A/C. If you have a manual trans car with A/C, you might assume that it is nothing unusual; after all, you assume that 10% of the manual trans cars had A/C.

But I'm willing to bet that there is a strong correlation between A/C and automatic transmissions. That is, I bet that the type of person who ordered A/C was more likely to be the type of person who also ordered an automatic -- whether due to budget constraints or "cush" factor.

Of course, my example is pure speculation, but you get the point.

    Excellent point!

Of course, with the W-30, there were no AC stick cars, so things like that need to be taken into account too where appropriate.

I think you explained yourself much better than I did. Do you work with statistics? Because I am merely a layman.

Couldnt get A/C with that wild 328 cam! :3gears:

    I had the 308 cam in my 72 W-30 4 speed

I was just reviewing this thread this morning becauase of Basketball Sam's old car being up for sale. The picture you posted has me wondering. My car had GT Qualifiers on it when I bought it. The car did'nt have a wing when I bought it, but the deck lid had ben replaced at one time. The front bumper looks a little pushed in, in the center and the ends look a little pushed out. Same as my car when I bought it. Makes you wonder...

I will do the research at Sloan if someone can convince Wayne Roberts to do the cars on the microfilm he owns.

I have not been successful in getting Wayne to do the GSX cars which are a lot less in number than the stage-1 cars so hopefully someone else would have better luck than me.
