    I'm picking up my Grandfather's best friends 1957 Buick Special convertible today that's been sitting in his garage since 1975! Hope to have it back on the road soon. Any suggestions on the best place to get antique Buick parts. I definately need a fuel tank, lines, etc...

    Welcome To V8Buick!!

    Get some Marvel Mystery oil to prime the engine, before you try to crank it.

    Before cranking it pour some Marvel Mystery Oil down the carburetor with the throttle open.

    Take out the spark plugs and put Marvel Mystery Oil directly in each cylinder using a thin necked funnel.

    Also , put Marvel Mystery Oil in the valve covers.

    Further , I would let Marvel mystery oil set at least several hours before cranking. 24 hours would be best.

    Maybe , after 24 hours change the oil before cranking.

    I highly recommend Marvel Mystery Oil. But, Auto Trans Fluid is a suitable substitute

    Take care to not damage that long dormant engine.:TU: A stuck or dropped valve will wreak havoc...:shock: ....:dollar: ...:rolleyes: .......

    Also, These guys are good
    I've had good luck with this guy. Perhaps he got overwhelmed. I'm not sure what happened to them.

    And, I also recommend this bunch for exhaust system;

    I got it home, up on the lift and it's in amazing shape! Got the interior cleaned up and I'm ready to see if it will crank, but how do I crank it? My dad said he thinks you hold the gas pedal to the floor and it cranks? Here's some pics, I'm in Fort Washington, PA for those who asked and thank you very much to everyone else for the info!

    Welcome fellow '57 owner.

    She looks to be in very good shape. The rear bumper ends look to be in excellent shape, very lucky they are worth big money.

    Do the side mirrors have spot lights in them? Cool.

    The Dynaflow probably emptied itself back in the late 80's so check your tranny fluid too.

    Keep the pic's coming.
