It stops every three or four web pages, and gives me this message

"Warning: mysql_pconnect(): Can't create a new thread (errno 11). If you are not out of available memory, you can consult the manual for a possible OS-dependent bug in /home/v8buick/public_html/admin/db_mysql.php on line 38

There seems to have been a slight problem with the database.

Have the same problem as Henry, thought it was because I'm on a dialup and the site was busy.

Yesterday, I thought I would never get on. I assumed the site was down. Late last night it finally came up! Day before was similar too. So, this could be my last post for a few days at this rate.

Yeah I'm trying to stay off during peak hours. Early in the AM or very late at night seems to be best. I dont know much about the Internet, but is this a site bandwidth problem?

I don't understand it myself. Some of those days that I am having problems, there are less than 200 people onboard. I know it can support more people than that. Maybe 100 of them are posting pics. Who knows???

I'd guess database size and/or server memory issues.

    Delete indexes
    Increase DB size
Add gig of ram to server

    Done!!

You would think after several weeks of this one of the board owners would comment or make an announcement that things are being or gonna be fixed. As it stands I don't think anyone is even paying attention or cares.

For the thousands and thousands of dollars that people put towards donations, keeping this board running non-stop is the least they can do.

We are working on it guys.

Lots of stuff going on besides the board here, this time of year, so it is very possible that both of us are away from the board from time to time.

    Relax, and be patient.

The Board is mostly funded by Tri Shield-- meaning JW. I think you are overestimating the extent of outside funding relative to its cost of upkeep. It is basically a free service that has been upgraded now several times at JW's expense. Mike Bucy essentially donates his time to keep it up too. I think you would really be suprised how few of the users contribute to the cost of keeping it up and running.

Look at the contributions and it totals $2920.63 and tell me how that isn't enough money to support this board? There is NO WAY it costs that much to keep a board like this running. With being involved with Buickland.com, it takes no more than $20/mo. for upkeep and $35/yr. for keeping the domain name. I can understand needing extra space for the total 5000 or so members, but actually there's only 200 or so who visit here regularly. It's not expensive to have a forum like v8buick.

Don't forget the 100+ a month for hosting unless the server is sittin in someones house.

If there is an issue yall are having trouble pinpointing with the server/database maybe one of the members may know whats going on.

Use the board to fix the board?

To run Buickland.com it's around $10 a month. I put $20/mo. just incase with the amount of members it required extra memory.

    Don't forget bandwidth.

With my TINY website, I have to allocate about 3 gb of bandwidth. I can only imagine how much is needed for this site. I'd like to see those numbers...

All, this website has already changed hosts 2 or 3 times in a year and a half due to the excessive bandwidth usage and girth of the site.

The owner and administrator are both busy with their real jobs and will correct the errors on the board as soon as possible. Please hang loose while the matter is seen to.

    Thanks.

I understand they have their hands full. I am in no rush either. When they can, they will. Beggers can't be Choosers.
