Work ethic of todays youth is something interesting. In most of my schooling the hardest working students I knew were from China, Russia, Ukraine, Mexico, etc. they worked hard, because they knew there was no silver platter.

Todays youth has largely gotten it easy, and has not learned the lesson of generations past. However, those from other countries did learn those lessons, and are willing to do the job.

As for enviromental, China did approve of the Kyoto Protocol which is to reduce pollution.

So you want your children and grandchildren to live in a China style economy where there is starvation in the rural areas, and any one that speaks out about it is run over with tanks like all those hard working students in the square a few years ago?

Yeah I want them in China! Just sent 2 over yesterday for some cheap tools. Had to send the boys since the girls have no real value. I do not have children and its a good thing. The first time my child addressed me the way some of these kids do their parents I would have given them a reason to be angry or cry. When I was growing up I thought about everything I did and what would happen if I was caught doing something wrong. I remember to this day when I was in 5th grade, I was mad because I could not do what I wanted. My Dad made me go over to a tree and pull off the switch (small flexiable tree limb) that would be used on the back of my naked legs. If I thought of whining, all it took was my Dad to ask if I wanted to go pick another switch.
My Dad spent over 20 years in the Army (a tour in Vietnam) and you respected your parents. The kid in Singapore that was punished with a cain beating in public works for me. The word respect to some kids means "what can you do for me".

Today everybody has an excuse, and doesnt accept responsibility for their own actions. My father was overseas for 6 of my 18 years growing up and my parents didnt have to attend my football and baseball games. My mother is from Germany and doesnt understand football and came to 2 of my games and my father never came to one. I started playing in both sports in 5th grade through high school. Did I turn out to be a problem child? I dont think so. Do I expect things handed to me, no. Bought my own cars and paid for my own college while attending so I would not have loans to repay.

If he did that today he'd be charged with child abuse and it's all we'd hear about on the news until something else happened. :Dou:
