5w40 would be good , if your weather is VERY cold. Or, if you have a modern car that the mfg specifies 5w40 ( (Edit: I re-read your first post. 5w40 is a good winter time oil for Denmark) Otherwise, I would use 10w40 It doesn't get cold where I live except for a week or so at a time. I don't crank my Buick in that kind of weather anyway. So, I use straight 30w.
I dont drive the car, execpt for good wether in the summer time Will see what oil thatll come in my possesion, and change at that time.. Need to get another bottle of zddp We use 5w30 in our daily drivers, because its recommended by the manufactures.. Got a Suzuki Swift 1,5 and Toyota Aygo 1,0, and the temperature in Denmark 0 - 80 degrees fahrenheit.. Thank your all for good advice and the help
AMSOIL Z-Rod is what I will be running once the engine goes back together. It doesn't get below freezing much here and I wouldn't drive the car in that weather anyway. http://www.amsoil.com/shop/by-produ...rod-10w-30-synthetic-motor-oil/?code=ZRTQT-EA
I currently run 10W-30 and hot in gear oil pressure is about 19psi. I've run 10W-40 before, and that bumped it to almost 30psi.
I dont drive the car in bad/cold weather.. This season Ill stay with the 5w30 with zddp added, but next year Ill use either Elf Competition 10w-40 with zddp added or Elf HTX Retro 20w-50.. Is the 20w50 too thick to run in a nailhead, or is the 10w40 better because off the easier flow? My engine is in good shape.. http://www.lubricants.elf.com/products-range/classic-cars.html Thanks for all your inputs. Houmark
I run Mobil 1 0W 30. They also make 0W 20 but I won't run that in Florida. Some people swear by it. Walmart sells them for $25 for a 5 qt jug.
Is that Mobil 1 the fully synthetic stuff ? If so that's cheap. It sells for about $50 here. We get ripped off with a lot of stuff here. I run 20W /50 here in my Nailhead. But we get hot summers and mild winters compared to Northern Hemisphere.
