Bill time flys when your having fun its been closer to 10 years since i painted your wagon.I was 16 when i bought my first GS from you now im 39.:eek2:
Hey Jay, I just turned 39 and would like to do a frame-off to my 67 Skylark, clone it to a GS! O the time and coin though!!! I know it is worth it once it's done! Keep goin!
Umm Bill?....c'mon now waitwaitWAIT a minit!! Some'n jist aint right....the way I see it is you claim to be 39 again...but you were borned in '42, RIGHT? So, WAIT...umm, Oh yea....I'm almost there....uh, lets see.....39, plus 2009, minus the year 42, and subtract the original hypotheticaly postulated denominator by 6, add 14 to the mathematically deduced equasion of 000.221 and the results are...109??? Sheesh dood...YOU ARE WAYWAYWAYOLDER THAN ME...:moonu:...NAHHNAA NAAAH NAH NAAAH NAAAH! p Wheelz, feelin' much younger in Tampa Bay!!!!:TU:
Hello all. I havent had time to post any pics because I have been working 10 - 15 hour days at the j-o-b. O.K. . . . .let me try to start where I left off. I had a problem with the final fit of the fenders. When I stripped the fenders I noticed small patch panels in the bottoms of the fenders. The pathches looked good so I didn't think much of it. I finished them off with a new coat of body filler. But when I tried to put them on the car there was a problem with the fit. So I went back and split the edges and body spooned them and re-welded the edges.
I painted the car about a month ago and i am just catching you "guys" up now on all I've done to now. These pictures are of the car painted, frame painted, suspension on the car, and the bottom end of the motor. My neighbor has finished the motor completely and it's ready to go back in this weekend (hopefully)ray: Extra special thanks goes to Steve my neighbor/mechanic. I can't thank him enough for all he's done.
Well. . .It wasn't just overtime at work that had me distracted from the "X". I have a new addition to the family...
Jay, Nice new member of the family. Pardon my ignorance, but what car is that? I also thought I saw something interesting that is in the reflection of that new car picture. What is that... :TU: Rob
Hi Rob it is a 40 buick special with a 401 nail head. The reflection is my gsx clone that i want to sell.
I saw Jay's 40 Special . Very nice with a 65 Riv running gear ,401, turbo 400 and Rivi rear ,Sweet! The reflection is a 70 GS cloned to a white "X". Yes , there are 2 white "X's" is his stable along with a sweet 70 Red GS 455 Conv!
I noticed that as well. I also noticed a very "familiar" colored yellow post to the far right of the 3rd thumbnail... What the HELL is going on over there!!!
Here are some pictures of the motor. The motor is in and should be running in about a week or so. The last picture is my poor neighbor. As the "X" project progresses he has started wearing his back brace. I am thinking of buying him a better brace.
JayBird...you are certainly doing a bang-up job on the GSX. Bet you just cannot wait for the day you fire-it-up and be on your way to Ohio! Maybe...just MAYBE, Ill make it there this year to experience the GSX "We're all together again for the first time" reunion excitement! Wheelz, Tampa Bay
Jay, Would love to see some recent progress updates and pictures. Want to keep you motivated so my old car will be ready for you to bring to the Reunion!!!! Stay busy.. :TU:
It's been a while since I updated my pictures but...my neighbor and I have been working on my car. Even with both of us having full time jobs. I'm going to make it to the reunion but unfortunately I will be trailering it because it won't be finished in time to have enough street time. It's tough to do a top quality job when you're on a time schedule. Overall the car's going to be a nice driver. I can't wait until the reunion so I can stop working on this thing. Even my neighbor is tired of working on it. The other day I told him "if I die tomorrow you can have the car". His reply was..."I don't want this damn thing!" I told him when it's done i would take him out for a nice dinner. I told him for this job he can even super size his meal.
Looking great Jay. It'll look unique with the poverty caps. I know what you mean about being tired of working on you car. I still have things to do to mine but they want get done till after the BIG SHOW. I look forward to cruising along beside you car in OHIO. See Ya!!
