GS Poster anyone?

I have been playing with the idea of making a poster that shows the different GS models (coupe, convertible, California, GSX). Currently I have '65 - '72 but '73,'75 and '75 can be added if anyone has any good photos.

As you can see I only have four cars so far so I would need good pictures of the other "stock looking (wheels, paint,) models/years and they would have to be facing the same direction and close to the same angle/view that I have shown. I could put the owners name below the car if requested. Anyone want to donate a photo of their car? I would like to use a variety of car colors and not all red or black, etc..

***Just so that there are no hard fealings if I do not use a photo of your car that you may have sent or was on the poster before, I will be adding/removing cars as I receive photos to get a good mix of colors and also to get better angles. I am not playing favorites, I am just trying to make a nice looking poster. No one has given me any problems but I just want to be up front and keep this project on friendly grounds..***

    *****This is the final version*****

Mike, use Buick's own add slogan "It's a howitzer with windshield wipers"
And you could work in the GS club moto: -Always going fast with class-

    Louie,

Do you have a shot of the '71 GSX on slightly less angle? More like the cars in the poster I show. If you do have one, please email it to me if you would like me to use it...

    :beers2:

I need photos of quite a few cars to finish this poster :Dou:

I'd like to see you do it. But would suggest that you do it like the Corvette posters. For each year, production statistics for the cars under the pictures. Then besides pretty it would also be informative.

For symetry, small block, big block, and California or GSX for the columns. If there were only two, just have two. So instead of how it's labeled now, have GS350 column 1, GS455/Stage1 column 2, GS California or GSX455/Stage1 in column 3 (with 71-12 being GSX350/455/Stage1).

You could also add a column four for the GS Riviera. And if there's no GS California in 66, use column 3 for a GS Wildcat. Am I nuts, or do I also remember there being such a thing as a GS Colorado? How does that fit in?

I know this would be a lot more work but it would encompass the whole GS history, and if you added production numbers for SB vs BB and trans combinations it would be a very very interesting poster indeed. I don't remember if there are production numbers that split out GS California from GS350 or not, but would like to see that if you're showing separate columns for them.

I think you could sell them not just here, but through parts place and other outlets if you went all the way with the Rivieras and the stats.

    Mike,

I sent you an email with pics of a 70 and 71 GSX to use if you still need those models. The Stratomist Blue 71 is not my car, but the picture is, so it should be OK. I guess we will find out soon!:bla:

I also have pics of other cars and will see if the angles are correct and send them too. Do the convertibles need to have the top up?

Wow you really want to make me work on this don't you  :bla:

The problem with having a column for the GS350 is that the GS350 shared the same body as the GS400 or GS455, so what I was trying to do was not to have the same body style 2x for each model year (coupe, conv & GS340, GS Cali, post coupe and GSX). Yes there was a GS Colorado but I do not know if the actual production numbers are available since that was dealer added "colorado" emblem and not factory installed.

I could add production info below each but I only have the daily car reports for '68 thru '72 and I would have to rely on Stephen Dove's book for the '65 thru '67 cars.

If I start to add the Riv's an the Wildcats the poster would become to cluttered (I think) and the cars would start to get too small. It would be nice to encompass the whole GS History though :Comp:

    James,

Convertible pictures could be with the top up or down... we will just have to see how it looks :TU:

I just added the red black/red GSX stripe at the top and bottom of the poster...

    Mike,

Yes, I think the extra work would be worth it.

I was figuring that you would mix up coupes and convertibles between the small and big block columns to give them some variety, as well as the colors would be different. For each year, try to get the most produced colors. One coupe and one convertible.

Forget about Colorado if it's a dealer thing.

I'd think that the Dove book stats would be fine to use for the whole thing.

I'd still like you to explore doing the RivGS too. Perhaps you can flip it to landscape. In fact, you really only need to do a coupe, convertible and a Riviera for 65-69, then from 70-72 a coupe, convertible, GSX, and Riv. So that's 27 altogether. One extra for the 66 Wildcat GS makes 28. Four rows of seven columns landscape, or four columns of seven rows portrait.

    Geno and everyone,

I still need many photos of stock looking (paint, wheels, etc) cars to fill the open slots on the poster. The angle of the shot needs to be close to those already displayed in my sample poster (about a 45 degree driver side shot).

I still need all others including a '68 GS coupe since I used a shot of my old car but it had "smoked" window glass.

Still looking for quite a few photos, check out the poster to see what photos are still needed.

I may have to remove the tri-shield background because I do not want to mess with the GM copyright police. I was thinking of replacing it with a chrome rallye wheel or rallye steering wheel, I will try a few things out. I really like the way the tri-shield looks though..
