I have my own exterior renovation company and specialize in siding, soffit, fascia, eavestrough, steel roofing, windows and doors. Before I opened my own company I use to build commercial buildings for 14 years but being a supervisor on commercial job sites was a major headache and left no time for the family let alone time for any hobbies.

I’m retired from nearly 45 years at the same convenience store chain. Now spending time with family and the cars! F4B759E2-5A4F-4E13-A90D-B3F81558B0AB.jpeg

This, however, I’m on the construction side. After they are put up, I get them producing electricity

Is there any parachutes in case ya gotta escape and the ladder down is blocked?

No parachutes. There is a rope decent device in the tower that will get you down in about 3 minutes or less

I saw a vid of one on fire and it said the flames blocked the escape of the workers and they were killed.

Yea we have a geronimo line. I don't think I'd ever use it. This guy's going down with the ship err rig. Sad thing is we've never even been properly trained or even familiarized with it but they make damn sure we always have it hooked up.

Before I retired, I was a telecommunications Technician Equipment Build. We built the -48 VDCpower plants (I worked up to 2000 Amp plants in my region), fiber optics, ADSL (high speed internet equipment), T1 Equipments (Low speed data), DMS (Dial tone equipment), Off-site mobility, alarms... We built the framework, put in the bays, power , shelves, equipment and commissioned the things to get them working. This is what I do now since I sold my 3 businesses 3 1/2 years ago and retired. I owned a large residential & commercial cleaning company for 35 years, a biohazard cleaning unit for 15, and an automotive concierge service for 12. I dabble now in light renovation work and exterior spray painting to keep active

    Interesting stuff, thanks.

Spent 37years working for GM, the last 25years+ as a Manufacturing Engineer working on future vehicle programs. Best. Job. Ever. The last program I worked on was the 2009 CTS-V. It's not too often that you have the opportunity to work on a vehicle that is capable of 200MPH.
Then in Oct-2009 when GM was having its issues I retired.

Since then I've worked for various companies, the last one was working as a contract Manufacturing Engineer for Pratt and Whitney AutoAir. It's fun working on stuff that lands up at 30000feet.

    It's been a ride.....

    Thanks,

Interesting thread! I turn 66 this year and I've spent the last 48 years running and gunning for various organizations: Air Force career as an OSI Special Agent; Pasco, WA Police Officer; City Councilman; US Dept of Energy Protective Force SWAT Instructor; US Dept of Energy CI Officer; Pilot and wanna be rock star drummer. Thirteen months to FINAL retirement... I'm tired and ready to relax! :)

Worked in several diferent jobs through the 70's before spending the 80's in various Supervisor and Management positions for a Major Canadian Courier company which was also known for its filter division. When that job suddenly ended late one January Friday afternoon, I obtained my Commercial Driver's License and started doing city LTL work.

Became a CDL Instructor for 9 years, teaching newbies how to safely operate a big rig both prior to them earning their CDL, then taking them on real road trips. Grew tired of that 15 years ago and became a full time Professional Freight Relocation Specialist. Retired from that gig last April 1st and now just do part time work one to four days/week.

Some of the interesting places I've been to.

Narrowly missed dropping into this "pothole". Partial washout of Ontario's Hwy 17 October 26, 2012. There were several other much worse ones behind me which I'd driven over just before they occurred. Caused by torrential and nonseasonal rains. The Highway was closed for 3-4 weeks.

On my way to a customer. :D:D I was stopped at a light for this photo.
