Why I Was Late for Work A guy in St. Louis was driving to work on Hwy 144 when he heard a 'pop'. He thought it sounded like a flat tire, though his ride wasn't affected. After pulling over, checking the tires and finding them intact he opened the hood to look at the motor. Before the hood was even all the way open he jumped back in shock and knocked his head on the partially opened hood, unable to believe what his eyes were seeing! Nobody was going to believe this!....you sure wouldn't have either! Fortunately, a coworker with a camera recognized him along side the road and stopped to see if he could help. Check out the attachment jpg files to witness for yourself the source of his amazement. .....Now, this has to be right up there at the top of the list of unusual but verified 'Reasons I was late for work'!!!!
I bet that snakeskin would make a nice belt or a pair of boots! WOW, that snake is huge! Looks like someone lost a pet boa/python!
Now where in the heck in St. Louis would you find a snake like that just lounging around under a hood? That's gotta be a pet that escaped or was let go... Very interesting though..
I posted the link to this on an urban legends site in the other snake thread, they said the same thing you did smartin, that it was not indiginous and must have been somebody's pet. They also confirmed the event with the dealer, but who knows hwo true the story behind it is.
worked with a fellow back in 1971 when he puchased a new grand prix . one winter morning , he starts his car , hears a a scream & a thump from under the hood . he shuts off the ingition , lifts the hood & sees the remains of a cat all spread across the front on the engine , the belts are off the pulleys ; a bloody mess . the cat apparently had climbed under the car overnight while the engine was hot to get some heat .
Cats happen all the time... Because they've got a lot of "ranch kitties" around at Dad's place, It's standard procedure to honk the horn before cranking...they still get at least one a year, though...keeps weeding the dumb ones out... I had one that stayed put (!) between the radiator and the fan, all the way into town, about a 20-minute drive. When we turned the engine off, we heard this plaintive "meow", opened the hood, and there he was! Took us ten minutes to drag him out...
Aww come on. I was just kiddin. I have two cats and I love those lil fellers. I also have a couple turtles and a big old 2 foot Skink (lizard) with a giant blue tongue. Here we are:
You're forgiven:grin: I had a big furry mammal crawl up under my hood once. Scared the sh&t out of me when I opened the hood. The bastard chewed up my spark plug wires, every one of them. Luckily, I was already at work.:jd:
i wonder what was inside it??? Looks like it ate a cat from the large bulge in the body. Then climbed in for some warmth. Then couldn't squeeze it fat butt out.
That exact thing happened to my girlfriend's mother. She started her car up and heard what sounded like apples in the fan . Turns out a bunch of kittens crawled into the fan shroud the night before. It was heartbreaking. Poor things. Jason
