    Hey Gang,

Here in Ohio racing has pretty much wrapped up and the season has come to an end. In the spring most of us set up some goals for our rides. Those goals may be to get the car out more (racing or just cruising). Some have set an ET figure they want to achieve. What were your goals? Did you achieve the goals???? Lets here what you have to say.

Goal: I wanted to get a RELIABLE engine combination that made enough HP to get our car that weighs between 2800 and 2850 lbs to run in the 8.70s.

Results: We managed to go 8.78 at 153 mph in so-so air conditions. If we would have made some of those east coast events I think it would have gone into the 8.60s. For us the most significant goal was the fact that we put just over 70 passes on the engine and never reset the valve lash. I am very pleased with the way our engine turned out. So...for anyone out there thinking to build a good engine.... think VERY LIGHTWEIGHT PARTS.

    Lets hear about your goals!!!!!!!!

My goal was to get the 67 ragtop on the road this summer, and get the Monza finished this summer so I could race it a few times and then sell it before winter.

I didn't meet either goal...... But I do have a good excuse... we bought a new house (with a great shop) and moved a couple months ago.
Kinda put a damper on the car projects, but I couldn't be happier with being behind right now.

So now I have the same goals... their just set for next summer after I get the shop and house straightened around.

I was really hoping to get my car into the 11's and keep it there. I have to say that I'm for the most part happy with what the car has done. My new goal is to make it appear more stock, put all the a/c back on, and still keep it in the 11's. A lofty goal for sure as I only have about .1 second to play with. Maybe I'll be needing that Gear Vendors unit after all. It is supposed to knock .1 to .2 off your quarter mile time.

I only wanted my car to move on its own power. Thats all.....just move. Waiting for my engine, but should be close now that the new heads are in production. :beer

Unexpected/ not planned goal was finding my GN. Bad timing financially speaking, but I will make it work :TU:

No goal this year, well slapping a manifold on doesn't count really. I did however break a record for miles. I put over 4000 on it! No low milegae survivor for me! Next year has one Rock solid goal. POSI. From there, either save for paint and body, or maybe exhaust.

    Im pretty satisified

my goal was to attend and compete at the bpg 1st annual nats by way of norwalk in may. drove my car from socal to ohio, serviced it and was promtply rained out at norwalk-but-made so many new friends and had so much fun the rain didnt even phase me (a relly big deal if you knew me well-i hate bad weather!!). then i did make the bpg event and was able to come back for norwalk in sept-didnt advance one darn round all summer-but had so much fun i would do it again if i could. (maybe someday) as an aside, i managed to get the car back here, rebuild the differential, drive it to vegas for the west coast nats and finish runner up there to george sweesy-a great year and all goals met. and i even bought another car along the way, still waiting for me in ohio. thanks to everyone in this big buick family who welcomed me and made me feel more than at home this summer.

Go Faster....Is always what I want.
I'm always looking for the next tenth but all I got was the next hundredth.

All the while imagining my new combo,This engine has impressed me with it's lack of maintenance and reliability.....I'm almost afraid to change anything.

But to ease my mind from not hitting my 9.50-something,I was in the money more this year than any other.

Hey Gary, this little bit from JB helps a little though doesnt it for next years goals???????

Here are 2 options on the block, it can be ordered with a 4.3075 bore, which is .005 under stock, or can be ordered with a 4.495 bore which is .005 under 4.5.
Same block, just which size you want to order it in.
Things look to be in place for production to begin on Monday, nov 1, 2004.
Get ready guys and gals, Things will move pretty quick very shortly here. Jim Burek P.A.E ENTERPRISES

That's exactly why I decided not to put too much effort into my current combo......I've remained optimistic that I could build big power using an aftermarket block that wasn't a Chevy.

Until I have it here in my hands I will remain level headed

Well, this year I got to Yardley's picnic (but without my car), I got to the BPG nats (but without my car), I got to Englishtown (but without my car) and I went to Cecil County (you guessed it...without my car!) :ball:
So my goal for next year is to have the damn thing stay together for the whole year...allowing me to drive it out (and back) from the 2nd annual BPG nats playing cat and mouse with Al Yeager's 72 along the way. The motor is at the machinist as we speak. :TU:

    Howdy all!
For the most part my main goal was to have my 72 Skylark back on the road again. This was done and the car even made it to the old time drags and several times to the midnight or street drags here in Tulsa! Dou! the best time was a 15.16 in the 1/4 mile. It is a 30 over 455 /400 turbo and the 256 open rear end! This will have to change for next year! This saturday night is the last midnights for the year so we will be there if it is not still raining. Just have to try and better that time!!

My goal was to drive my '69 California to the BPG Nats and run some 13s with it. Made the 900+ mile drive there, ran several 13.8s and 13.9s with a best of 13.85. Packed it all back up and drove the 900+ miles home!

Was very pleased with the 350, other than the fact that it pushed a lot of oil up into the air cleaner on long highway drives! :ball:

My goal this year was to become a better/smarter racer and to win at least one race. I started out by having my converter tightened up in hopes to kill some 60' time. This worked out well as my 60's went from 1.51's to 1.57-8's. I also picked up some mph. I wasn't hung up on going as fast as possible this year and just tried to work on my bracket program. I raced in 9 races in 2004. In total I staged for 29 rounds and won 23 of them. I won 3 races and went to the pay window in 2 others. To finish of the year I went to a $2000 to win super/pro race. There were 120 cars entered and 52 buy backs in the second round. I made it to the final 28 cars and got a little $$$ since they paid 32. All in all I had a great year.

For next year I'll try and continue down the same road. I have a few safty issues to address and then I'll continue to try and make the car more consistant. One thing I'm working toward is my own version of legal traction control. I've also purchased an enclosed trailer. I've only had it out a few times, but it has made a big difference in the amount of work it takes to race. I really think that even the trailer will make me a better racer. I'll be working to get a trailer weather station that will page me updated info in the staging lanes.

My goals for this year was to be more competitive in eliminations. As the engine in the '68 was flawless for 5 seasons staight, without putting a wrench on her... Ran a best of 10.54 in Cecil & winning 2nd chance bracket. However, early this year, the Buick torque took out the rear gear & trans. The '71 GS455 put me in the finals with John Zerucha, Stan must have launched the car by remote control because John had a .502rt. to my sizzling .505rt. & he got to the stripe first at the BPG meet. All in all, i'm pleased putting both my cars in the finals at a Buick event. Next year i will make sure all safety items are addressed & install a new intake & Dominator combination. :beer Randy

My goal was to install a completely new motor/tran combo and get it running before the end of the season. I just made it by about 2 weeks so now my goal is to get to the track this weekend which is the last one for the year. I am hoping for a 10 second pass. Will see,
I ran out of money so I dont have the correct carb (bigger) and Im sure the gearing is off but I want to at least try it. :3gears:

Goals I supported Rod on were....Getting a trans to stay together, 3rd times the charm. Then to get into the 7's. Which he finally did..7.97!! Fast qualifier at the BG Nats, did it for the 3rd year in a row. Even got Rod talked into fixing the head gasket so we could compete in Q16. Tried to make fast Qualifier at the BPG Nats, didn't make that goal, 2nd to Scotty. Who does he think he is coming out after a 10 year absents with a slapped together motor and edge Rod out? Just kidding he's a great guy and we are more than happy to be 2nd to him. Failed at getting the car to go strait at the BPG Nats, damn new slicks  Current goals are buying Scotty's car and staying posted on the new block. Bonus achivement was getting the Riv to run it's best time of 12.86. Only breakage this year was two trans, a rear end, blown head gasket and a split block. So, it was a pretty good year.

Goals...hmmmm. I wanted to beat my best time from last year. Mission accomplished! 11.91 last year....11.78 this year :) I was always hoping to get the 11 second time slip from Quaker City and accomplished that goal as well. Now...goals for next year---KEEP DENNY OUT OF MY CAR and get him into his own again! Maybe even get the "top secret" car moving for next year ;)
