When I saw the car commercial at the super bowl for the first time, I almost puked. Now I don't have to worry about it anymore:moonu:
Thats the first thing I thought of when I saw that car, and of course the Yugo. Man, that is one sad looking car:spank:
That's a very vague article... but it looks like GM actually did a good thing. The design of the car apparently didn't have any factor in causing the crashes. Pulling the sales of a car is a bad PR move but maybe it shows that GM is actually starting to become more committed to safety?? Now if they could only commit to building cars that are NOT UGLY!!
I wonder if the "five crashes" cited are the crash tests that they obviously failed with a styrofoam box on go-cart tires like this one. Can you say DEATH TRAP? This is (yet) another reason to be nervous while running around on all-drum brakes...this car (and somebody's college student offspring driving it) would absolutely disintegrate if hit at anything over 30 mph. But hey - just think of the great gas mileage it will get! Thanks EPA!!! :moonu:
you guys realize that this car, along with some other new models from Chevy (Optra) are actually made by Daewoo in Korea for Chevrolet. GM owns Daewoo. This one for sure, I don't mind seeing dissappear! Up here in Canada, they offer the thing as a Suzuki Swift as well, another GM acquisition, and there are quite a few on the road... *edit* sorry guys, I guess it says that right in the article...ou:
I don't even consider something like this to be a car. It's just a glorified golf cart. Maybe Tiger Woods could find a use for one?
There are small cars that actually do well in crash tests (Mini, Suzuki Aerio, VW Beetle, etc)... I wonder if the Aveo has been tested yet. Maybe GM pulled the car so fast because they knew something is wrong with the car???
Read the article, car was pulled but for a few days because there was 5 wrecks involving the car, but not the cars fault, this isn't uncommon, if you read Automotive News on a regular bases, you'll see that this happens quite a bit to new intro models, they just stopped the dealers just to make sure there was no problem, car was back on sale after the checked things out, I wonder why they didn't check the guys glass's that drew that pig up in the design studio?.....Very ugly car.
I guess most of us big car americans wouldn't do well in Europe with their Smart cars. bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZZZ....BZZzzzzzzzzzzzzZZZZZ
You see...He's from Barcelona. So sorry. "The crashes captured the attention of General Motors because there were five crashes in a new product," he said. "We halted the delivery to avoid inconveniencing customers." To all the crash victims and their families, we want to apologize in the strongest possible manner for any inconveniences encumbered.
