I have the GV in my 70 GS. If I remember correctly, the unit with the adapter is about 21" measured from the extension housing parting line. My cross member was modified to drop the back of the trans about 1/2". Don't know if that helps.

Why do you need it on a Wildcat?

The expense of the unit doesnt justify going on one, plus you wont get anymore out of the car.

Huge money for something that wont show you a great return on the investment

    Mark,
I don't know about you, but I didn't buy my car as an investment, I bought it because I always wanted one and I wanted to drive it. The GV lets me do that. It turns my 373's into 2.91's. Yes, it cost me over 3000.00 when all was said and done, but that isn't much more than it would cost to do a 200R4. The GV is essentially bullet proof, it is rated for 1200HP. The THM400 is very durable and relatively cheap to rebuild. The 200R4 is not. I may never recoup the money I spent on the GV or other modifications that I have done to my car. I am very happy with the GV, and recommend it highly.:TU:

I doubt very much whether you will find anyone who has put one on a 64 Wildcat like yours. Why not call Gear Vendors, or E-mail them. They may know of someone who has done what you are looking to do. Seems to me all you really have to do is take some measurements and you will know whether this is feasible or not.

I'll second the suggestion of calling GearVendors, other GM cars had that chassis configuration also. You may want to lurk around some streetrod sites and find some applications for the gear splitter.I have been sold on the idea for a long time and will eventually purchase the unit for a TH-400,I want to be able to share it with three vehicles, all equipped with plenty of grunt.I would like to be able to have an overdrive because the vehicles will see plenty of driving at times.I like that I won't be able to break it and the unit is tested. If I can set up two or more vehicles(extra driveshafts, etc.) to share a unit,I feel that I will be ahead on the money.
Larry,I follow your postings regarding your use of the GV very closely, any new feedback? Thanks.

Yes I Have Talked To Gear Venders And They Said It Will Fit With Some Minor Cutting On The Frame. I Just Wanted To Talk To Someone That Has Actually Done It. Not A A Sales Guy Trying To Sell His Product.

And If We Were In This For Saving $ We Sure Wouldnt Be Driving Cars That Only Get 10 Miles To The Gallon Or Less. Everthing I Buy For This Car Cost $, But It Sooo Much Fun

ask wildbill (topcat)he just installed an overdrive in a 66 wildcat.
i know the frames are different but he might know.

in my opinion it will be hard to install becasuse of the short distance and the angle of the drive shaft.

when i had the blue wildcat i got 17 mpg on the road at 3000 rpms
    good luck with it

Maybe so, but the 4L80E wasn't do able at the time, and I really like having the Switch Pitch-GV combo.

what kind of power are you making? I can't see the GV with drive shaft mods being even comparable to a 200 with a mild rebuild pricewise. the weight and horsepower loss through all of that is a down side too. 200's are very efficient. if you are stock you would be a good candidate for the 200.
