So while at work today a friend handed me the keys to his 1966 Wildcat, that had been sititng in a sales yard for years. They had been trying to get rid of it for a while now, and just can't seem to find anyone who wants it. So He just handed me the keys and title. I'm going to look at it today. Wish me luck!

It's not very pretty, but to my knowledge, it's matching numbers. And sorry, It's a 1967. The guy didn't know what year it was.
It has the 430 BBB in it, probably the original plugs. The license plate said it was last inspected in 79.
But I"m going to take the tires off and get it to where it will roll and tow it home, and start on it!

I don't really want to sell it, but I'm only 19 and this is going to be my second project car, and my second Wildcat! This has one has all the original documents, all the way down to the original Wildcat hubcaps. It's a straight body with some rust, but it's not too bad. And I haven't got a chance to do anything with the motor yet.. It's covered in old insulation and sticks and such. Anybody know where I can get a back window?

Cool project! How's the frame? Should still be fairly decent since it's in TX.

Got it towed to my yard today, and cleaned it up a little bit. I will have pictures tomorrow when it's daytime. We cleaned under the hood, since there was a bunch of crap, and hooked up a battery to it. Turns over beautifully! Going to make it my goal to get it started tomorrow.

And as for the back window, I will need one, along with the passenger side door glass. Some kids shot it out with a BB gun. Meanwhile, here's a quick shot of the engine compartment as it is now, and a picture of my 1969 Wildcat.. :beers2: [IMG]

Going to go ahead and post an update on what went down over the weekend. We decided to have the motor pulled so we can pull the old steamer out of the shed and wash the whole engine compartment, and rebuild the motor and tranny. We probably didn't do it right, since none of us is over the age of 21, but we're learning!
It's a really tight fit, but it works.

Pulled the heads, and one side look like new, same as the rocker assembly, while the other side looked terrible.

We're not very organized, but we're trying.

And in the mean time, I think it's time to park my 1969 Wildcat, got the rims I wanted finally, and except missing some trim on the sides, it's all done. :beer

It is really nice to see a 19 year old and his buddies pulling motors, rebuilding transmission and just working on old cars and saving ones like that, some people might have junked it. i am 28 and a automotive shop teaching and nothing is more satisfiying to see more young kids getting into the hobbie!! keep it up!!!if you have any questions dont be shy to ask.:TU:

Okay thanks for all the feedback guys!:TU:

No new progess yet, we haven't had time to work on it. Starting tomorrow we will start to take the motor completely apart. Our goal is to get it running before anything! :Brow:

You are the man dude. You are going to save a car that most people here would have parted out and scraped. thats the problem I see that all these older guys do, they part everything if the car is just a bit rusty or beat up. its a shame, such a shame. maybe the old guys figure they will be dead and gone before the old cars run out. but us young guys that LOVE old cars see them as a sacred item of the past never to be built again! my daily driver 61 electra would probably be parted in the hand of most. us younger guys need to keep the old cars alive so we never see a world with out them! My 55 I got when i was 16 made my grandparents freak out because it was so bad, but hell with that i got it running and fixed up and drove it for many years before selling it. i will so all i can to save old cars just like you.

Big update. I think we've got a lot accomplished in the small time since I've last posted. So here's what we've done since then.

We finished one of the heads, and halfway through the other one. Also painted both of them.

Cleaned up the intake manifold, and painted it.

Pulled the pistons out, they look good. We've cleaned them up pretty good. Waiting on a new set of rings before we re-install them.

We also threw everything together and painted the motor block, and re-sprayed everything as well. All in all, it came out pretty good. Since I've never done it before.

But anyways, that's all for now. We can't go any further without piston rings, since we broke one. They needed to be replaced anyways. But hopefully when we get it back together, it will start!
