I've been flirting with the idea of buying new wheels for the lark just to give it a little more agression. I found Summit's and Jegs' versions of the American Racing Torque Thrusts and I have to say they look pretty decent, not to mention the amazing price. Have you guys heard of these, if they are quality or not? I'm very tempted to try them out. And what do you guys like- the all chrome or the black/gun metal finish? I'm torn. It's nice to see something possibly positive to come out of these companies. :Brow: And I have to say I like Summit's better because of the center cap.

I've had no personal experience with either of the wheels but I can say with confidence that Summit is a top notch company that is probably more dedicated to quality and customer satisfaction than any other I can think of. I'n not knocking Jeg's, just that I have done a lot of business with Summit. You probably already know that any answers you get are going to be a matter of person preference. With that said, I like them both, but I've always felt that the gray wheels tend to look better on a light colored car and the chrome or polished wheels look better on a dark one. Either way you certainly can't beat the price.

Well put Bill. I think I may try some out, whether it's gun metal or polished I haven't decided yet, but when summer comes and I start working more hopefully I'll have a set.

They look like the same wheel to me. I bet both Summitt and Jegs are buying from the same manufacturer.

The wheel shown appears to be a Torque Trust "D" wheel. The spokes are bent like shown to accomodate disc brakes --thus the D designation. If you have not changed your brakes on your 64 Cat you would able to use the Torque Thrust T wheels with the original straight spokes which is the way they were originally designed.

    I have front discbrakes!!

I ordered them with 3.750 backspace so it's not much diffrence with the stock wheels.
I have now chevy wheels on it with 4 backspace and they fit, only needed to enlarge the centerbore for the rear center.

I saw those wheels myself, they are very nice.........

But they don't seem to make them in a 15 x 10 :Do No:

If you could identify the manufacturer, you could see what's available, but you'd probably have to be able to read/write/speak Mandarin or Cantonese. :TU:

I was going to say why not look at the cragar SS that is the old style classic version of the look. Then I saw that they cost about twice as much!!

I do agree about summit. It's been years since I bought much from them, but they were a great company to do business with.

I ordered a 400 Chevy block from them cheaper than I could have the machine work done to my old truck block years ago.
Of course that has as much to do with where I live as it did with Summit's prices. Pre internet local prices.

From your avatar, your 72 looks similar to mine. I went with a similar style wheel - Torq Thrust M's with gray centers. Mine are 17x8. Here's a pic.

Should them being not as strong effect anything if it's just a daily driver?

Just a word of advice, the Jegs are just aluminum rims. You will have to consistently stay up on polishing and removing the tarnish that will inevitably occur because they are aluminum. Spend the money and get some chrome.
