Welp, I know that Classic Caddies offers these for sale, so I wonder if they are reproduced. They almost have to be, if they're offering them for sale!
Cascade Blue You might want to keep in mind they only made 87 cascade blue 72 Centurion Converts where built versus 491 Fire Red ones
answer Ok, got an answer - according to GM parts and price guide the Customline boot was only available on Buick and Cadillac, not Olds, Pontiac, or Chevy
87? That might change my mind. Thanks! You seem to be quite knowledgable on the Centurion. I see that you are in Mars,Pa. Was wondering what part of the state that was in. My Centurion is currently stored at my uncle's house ,near Oxford,Pa.
Duh, just checked out mapquest and see that you are near Pittsburg! Oxford is at the other end of the state.
learning Learning every day, and have a great teacher, my closest friend is a 72 & Centurion guru and he has been drilling the info into me for years.
Today I went to see someone who has quite a few seventies GM convertibles, all complete but in bad shape except for a 75 Eldorado that seemed a bit better. Among them are a 75 LeSabre convertible and a 73 Centurion 455. Both are in horrible shape but their interior is relatively nice. The 73 is white with a green interior with a 40/60 seat. It has some options including automatic A/C an the Customline boot (that he untastefully painted green to (mis)match the interior and the ugly large pinstripe that he added to the body) The guy is asking 7000$ for the Centurion. If it would have been priced more reasonnably like 2000$ (1000$ for the parade boot and 1000$ for the pile of rust and Bondo) I'd probably have taken it! Maybe even for a little more than that! I have seen the same car in a used car lot about 10 years ago for sale at 3000$, it already had a thick coat of plastic on it's doors and quarters but was still much better than it is now.
Thanks Thanks Victor, I will say the same back, I have admired your car on the Centurion site for some time - Crystal Blue is my FAVORITE 72 Centurion Convert color and yours looks like a beaut. It's never to late to add a customline boot!! :TU: While I'm throwing out numbers 112 Crystal Blue converts.
Since we are talkin Centurion's here. Saturday,on the way to Georgia,I stopped in Ocala,Fla. to checkout some Buick parts cars. This guy had a REALLY nice 72 Centurion ,red on white convertible, loaded, with 34K original miles. Not For Sale unfortunately.Couldn't tell if it had a slimline cover,as the interior was partially disassembled and parts were stored here and there.Mint interior!Larry is the guy's name, but didn't get his last name.I don't think he is a member of this board. I will be seeing him again ,to buy SOMETHING . He has parts cars for sale which include:72 Estate Wagon,70 Electra plainjane Coupe,72 Riv w/buckets/console that has had a TON of work done to it,71 Electra limited 4dr,71 Riv w bench seat,2-60 Cadillacs, and a 59 Tbird. I think he said that he has a month to dispose of everything. Most of these cars are rusty.
Larry I'm not sure if he is on this board, but he is frequesntly on the BCA board - he is "34KCenturion" on the BCA board.
Amazing! That's the car. The BCA board is where I saw his cars for sale.I just found out that they are all on ebay. If anyone needs discriptions,I looked them over last week. I live 85 miles from where these cars are at.
Keith, what color was the customline top normally, body or interior color. I bought a top for my cascade blue/white 72 that is white in color. I dont know whether to leave it white or do it blue
Generally...The soft boots match in interior, the parade boots match the cars body color. I have the soft boot in blue (matches the side panels of the interior eventhough I have white seats. Looks good, but I'd prefer the parade boot....
