So after all the heartache and money out the window I finally got my car to the track last night for the first time me and the car have ever seen track time. My 60ft time was 1.905 quarter mile 13.116 @103 miles an hour. I was hoping it would run 12.60's? what should I have expected the motor on the dyno made 510 horse, and 564 foot pounds. it weighs 4200 pounds give or take a few pounds 2500 stall, and 3.73 gear. Were my expectations to high, and what can I do outside of going into the motor to get it to run a little faster?

Mph indicates around 450hp rite now, for it to ET you'll need 275/60 drag radials, and little more converter IMO, 103 is enough for 12.60s with a 1.65 60ft, work traction then go from there

Keep tuning. I turned 110 mph on that combination. Wonder about the converter and I think Hughes makes good converters. Check for percentage of slip.

It has 275/60/15 drags on the stock rally wheels now. I have a 3200 stall for monster new in the box. There is a buick track day coming up in two weeks here in Phoenix, Ill try to sneak the convertor in there and see what it does. Any other suggestions?

the track times make sense, it is the dyno numbers that are way off. are you running headers like on the dyno, is the carb opening all the way

275/60's on a 7in wheel doesn't work to well, DR's like 18 to 22psi, and at that air level on a 7in wheel your not putting but about 5in on ground , and I've said this alot but maybe the track just sucks, stock suspension big block muscle cars on DR's need a good track. So youay need shocks and other things to get it to work on the marginal track

Are you leaving it in drive, what are the shift points. We make less hp than you with Sandy's all iron X and run 12.7's at 105mph and 1.73 60'. 2800 stall 3.42 gears and 26.5 " slicks. Its all in the combo, and more seat time. With more tuning you should run 12.6's no problem

Besides above, a good cold air intake would help (underhood or scooped)..

Manually shifting it at 5000 like was told too?

I had 16 pounds of pressure in the tires, the 7 inch wheel is all I have for now, I'm hoping santa brings me a pair of weld rts71 10.25 inch wheels for the rear for christmas. I ordered a set of QA1 single adjustable shocks today, and I think I'm going to put the monster 3200 stall in it, and take the music out of the trunk. I was told to leave it in to help with traction, but it think the 200 pounds may help me some?

?? I have a K&N intake that I could have run, but I assumed the factory air intake setup would be better?

5000 rpms with a 413? I shifted mine at 6200. At that it still wanted to go to 6600 but that is a little crazy. I had the same motor you have. Ported irons,sp1, ta 413, 3:73 gear (200-4r) Holley 950, MSD, only difference I can see is I had roller rockers.

Your shift points are fine, we grind the governor to shift the trans by it self to shift at 5000, eliminates the possibility of shifting into neutral or reverse.
The stock air cleaner sucks, the scoops are in a low pressure area of the hood. Turn the aircleaner top upside down. Install adjustable shocks in front too. adjust 80/20 or 90/10, rear shocks to 50/50. If you have an air bag in the right rear spring inflate to 8-10 psi.

I have aluminum heads with a dual plan, and a a bullet cam (232 242@50) 516 527 lift in it now. I felt like the car was still pulling past 5000, but the dyno sheet says that its making max horsepower at 5200

I didn't have a bag in the right side, Ill try that in two weeks, and i also thought about the K&N round element with a small spacer on it if I can get it to fit under the hood.

You should be running 110 at the very least.
1.Verify timing and firing order 32 to 38 in by 2500
2.verify Carb is opening all the way
    3.check plugs for color
    4.take sub box out
5.open element air filter or a sealed ram air type setup, under bumper is worth 2+ mph from my experience
    6. Try the radials at 20psi

Its a quick fuel 850, I wish I knew how to check the timing, but I would have to take it somewhere for that. I took it straight from the shop that built it and dynoed it and put it in the car with no changes to the timing. U can check to ensure I'm getting all of the throttle I can pull the plugs and check the color. I plan on pulling the box out and and putting the convertor in it before the Buick event in two weeks . Maybe somebody at the track can help me with the timing. Sealed ram air type setup? isn't that whats already on the car with the stock setup?
