I'll have to wait till spring as she's tucked away in a warehouse for the winter.

My set-up is comprised of: 2.25 in. out the back with h-pipe and Cherry Bomb Extremes. Sounds raucous without being obnoxious.:TU: The Flowmaster 40's just were not loud enough and I attribute that to the stock 350 2 bbl, stock cam, 2.25 in piping and no headers.

I have 2 1/4 with headers and no crossover and its too quiet at idle but sure is loud enough once you hit the pedal. Has the typical flowmaster 40 drone at 2500 but just doesn't have the rumble I am looking for, I am sure the small exhaust doesn't help though

I just recently had Lou's custom exhaust put together a system for my Centurion (350 4barrel, headers, with a slight cam). The system is 2.5" with an x-pipe and their stainless steel mufflers.

They installed the system without the X by mistake. They fixed the mistake without hesitation. It allowed me to compare the system before and after the X. Without the X the sound was syncopated and choppy but nice and deep. The cam sounded a bit nastier in this configuration. With the X the sound was smoother and a touch quieter. It's a nice growl but definetely not disturbing the peace. I like the more refined sound for my Buick and it does not drone on the highway. There's a small resonance just off idle that clears up quickly and is not a problem. It still roars when the fun pedal is mashed.

This system replaced an old generic Meineke heavy duty dual exhaust that was damn near silent.

The whole system was (after some haggling) $700 installed. They did a nice job on the installation and I'm very pleased with the work. I'd recommend them to anyone.

My system is probably a bit conservative for what you're after.

it is there a site or that I could find the kit at a fair price

because the price is very expensive on the flowmaster site

Try Taperformance. They have a kits in different sizes with different muffler options including flowmasters and they also have downpipes.

I am personally unsure whether I should spring for the $460 headers on top of the $300 exhaust kit or just put manifolds back on my car. Headers are just too darn expensive for Buicks:Do No:

I reccomend going with TA's headers. Alot of other manufacturer's headers have clearance issues and have to be adjusted in order to fit.

I can personally say Hooker headers are a nightmare to work with. They sit very low and are a very tight fit, and I have a no-air car. If you have A/C then be prepared for a battle. I can't speak for Ta headers though but being that they are an all Buick company I would have to agree and say they would fit better.

Put Hooker headers in my 71 A/C car and had no installation issues other than using a lift to make the install easier.

I have no a / c but I want to buy soon but headers

if I said that hooker are hard to install I would look elsewhere

I would order well in T / A Performance ... but I'm from quebec and I had a little trouble communicating in English:confused:

TA has a portion on this site for them. Send them a mail, they do check in here and I'm sure they can help you.

Get ahold of TABuickMike on the board. He even has a thread here in the small block section on a project he is doing: http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=197839

you want to make noise? cherry bombs are good, but the thrush red bullets, or the smitty's are the way to go, about the only thing louder is straight pipes.

I wonder if muffler for I must take (Offset in / Offset out) .... (Offset in / center out) or (center in / center out)

    thanks!

Sorry I forgot what your plan was for the exhaust, are you doing an entire kit or just the mufflers? If you are doing a whole kit it should come with whatever will fit best. If not you will have to look at your current setup to see what will work best.

As for which is best from a performance standpoint I do believe it depends on the muffler design. Some mufflers are straight through and do not use chambers or baffles in which case center in/out will be best, otherwise if there are baffles and chambers then the inlet and outlet of the muffler will make no difference except make it easier to fit the exhaust system together.

If you haven't already purchased an exhaust I would recommend looking at magnaflows kits. There are full stainless steel, come with all hardware and also come with a crossover. The downside to the x pipe crossover it comes with is that if you weld the system together the driveshaft and trans will be a little harder to remove as you have to remove the entire exhaust system or cut it.

Guys please correct me where I am wrong:Do No:
