Thanks Ty as that is what is needed and not the old "Well we asked Edelbrock", no offense intended to anyone, but this has to be done outside the box with a diffeent approcach since the old ways have not worked. You may be hard headed but not an SOB in my book but someone who is willing to look elsewhere and not throw in the towel too early!
Goes back to the AMC guys getting parts that we cannot and that was not because a couple of guys asked about them but a hard hearted effort was applied. Remember our 401 was around 12 years ahead of th AMC and should get the attention it deserves but the "squeaky wheel gets the grease". Sorry about the hokey quote but it is true. Best of luck TY!

"Da' NAILHEAD Pop Kennedy and TV Tommy could make-em run" Lets add a name or two to this slogan!

Yeah, add my name. Tom Telesco. I believe Bob & I have pretty much explored most of the avenues by using 40+ year old technology to see what could be had along the mostly stock lines. 11.08ET @ 122MPH in a 3200 pd. car with no traction I may add has not been topped as of yet. As a matter of fact the 11.64ET @ 116MPH that was run in 2000 I don't believe has been topped yet. This still is a full frame street drivable car that could still be taken to local cruise nights. My 180K + '64 Riv. @ 4413 pds. ran a best ever of 13.902ET @ 98MPH back in '04. So, they can run & run the numbers. It all still comes down to the question, "How Much Money You Gonna Spend Playin'??????? I spend many hours on the phone giving advise. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE doin' it for the hobby & promoting the virtues of the "Ole Nail". It takes away much time from the other things in life that also take up sooooooo much time & it ain't makin' me any $$$$ to live on. It would be nice if some much appreciated advise carried a few $$$$ sent in appreciation, but that will likely never happen. Know what I mean????

Tom, why would the car not hook? Even dropping the clutch at 4000rpm and with 4.30's with the tires available now I would think traction should not be an issue and a 1.8 or lower 60' should have been possible or is currently possible. Heck I hqave seen cars dropping 1.5's with times in your range and certainly knocking on 10's must have gotten you near that mark, yes?
Anyways I heard that EELCO is coming out with an aluminum 4bbl. anyways so that is covered if it indeed drops .15 at least plus another .15 with a ngood 750cfm or higher carb as I believe the current Edelbrock RPM's do much better than that(intake only around .25 on a big block?).

If someone was willing to take the time, and was a wizz kid with this CAD stuff, you could go through these guys: http://www.emachineshop.com/

download the software, design it yourself, send them the file, get a quote, they do ALL types of work from mill and lathe, to welding and casting.

I believe the car is a one owner car and he didn't want to hack the wheel wells.

    I think it's a 4-spd as well

This brings up a good question. Compression can be manipulated by reshaping the chamber (although we'll have to keep track of swirl) and add compression.
I've got a lead on a company who supposedly will cast small parts (yamaha, Harley, Honda) bike heads for a measly 200 dollars!
IF (BIG IF) they could have a good cast design to start with (digitize) and multiply that 200x4 ports add a little gravy for the size say 1000 for a head. Who knows.

Yes. 4-speed w/4.30's but a 9-10" slick should fit a '65 easily as I believe a 275 fits without cutting. If this car is still running there are now larger diameter wheels that would allow fitment over things like shock mounts, etc. so tht a great traction tire would fit IMHO. Still a fantastic achievement anyways.
My issue is that any of the older muscle cars are having a resurgence of aftermarket parts made available and unless the buick guys make some noise we will be left where we have been. Yes it will take a commitment of some cash and that could be done with 50/50 raffles and parts raffles as I have been involved in on other forums.
Now we will have a single 4bbl intake available soon and that is certainly reason for some hope and excitement. Dyno figures with independant testing seems to be starting also, these are positive steps. Keep 'em coming!

Speaking of the 1x4 intake you guys are wanting. Has anyone approached Mark from Burton Machine? He did a single plane intake for the SBB. I'm sure if he was provided with a nailhead to play with, he would be capable of making you guys an intake.

There is also a guy on the HAMB board out of Canada who is starting to do some simple stuff like finned valley covers etc... He had been asking what people were looking to have made.

Couldn't hurt to let him know what we are interested in. I think heads are out of the picture for the time being, but perhaps an intake could happen????
