eBayers and leaving feedback

I don't know if any of you have this same problem...... but it's really annoying. When winning an itme on eBay, the seller is supposed to leave you feedback when he has received the funds. I have done over 300 sale items on eBay and almost never can get the sellers to leave feedback unless I leave positive feedback first for them. eBay has gotten so bad, that they are afraid if they leave you positive feedback for payment made that they don't have as much leverage if you should be unhappy with what they sent you.
I have friends that have left negative feedback for an item and then gotten a retaliatory negative feedback in return, even though they paid right away for the item.
So, I guess this is more a rant than anything. If you are selling on eBay....please leave feedback when payment is received. If you are buying, do not leave feedback until the seller does so first. While this is a stupidly simple system....people use it to their benefit. Make the seller work for their positive feedback FIRST!......

Ok, I'm not real fimilar with ebay or paypal, just got the basics down. Do you leave feed back for people on paypal too? Like the people useing paypal to pay for the calendars. If so, I will get right on it.

    Nope

No feedback for Paypal, just a record of Paypal transactions. If someone is Paypal verified, I guess you are supposed to assume  perfect feedback, but I have never had a problem... :Do No:

Well, then there are those that won't leave any feedback at all! Even after I have left them positive feedback, and sent a freindly reminder to them about leaving me feedback.
If there was a problem, at least have the courtesy to email me and let me know. :Comp:

I hate when I don't get feedback.....when I sell, I send a email to the buyer that I got payment and item will be shipped and right after that I leave their feedback because at that point they have done their part in the deal....when I'm the buyer, I don't leave feedback until they take care of mine first...I have about 8 in my eBay now that I haven't left feedback cause they haven't done mine. :TU:

I haven't had any ebay sellers miss leaving feedback for me. I would say maybe 50% leave feedback as soon as they receive payment, sometimes I've had to prompt them to do so. Doesn't bother me either way, really. I figure there's not much difference between a 50 positive, or a 52 positive.

I've bought a few items from EBAY, and when they don't leave feedback for me, I wait until after I recieve the item and if it's OK I send them a message telling them I got it and to please leave my feedback and I will then leave theirs.......so far this approach has worked well for me. :bglasses:

I've both bought and sold on eBay. When I sell, I only leave feedback after the buyer has left feedback. My reasoning is the seller is the first who knows when the deal is complete. The deal is only half done when I receive payment. If I get an email from the buyer saying the item is received and he is happy I will post positive feedback. I don't mind posting feedback first, I just don't want some unreasonable buyer telling me a 40 year old part isn't perfect and leaving negative feedback.

Waiting to leave feedback until the entire deal is complete makes all participants more reasonable if something needs to be worked out. Just my opinion, but I've had no problems and still have 100%.

As soon as I get paid for an item, I leave feedback. Most times it's something like, "quick pay, great ebayer A++++" (this of course is if they did pay promptly)

I feel the seller should leave feedback first. When the item is recieved by the buyer, then he should leave feedback.

    latest

Here the the latest feedback joker I'm dealing with;I sell a used headlight for a 2004-05 Chevy Malibu on ebay for my starting price of $19.99 which is a steal[mind you new this lamp would cost $200.00] The winning bidder after about a week emails me that he sold the car and does't need the light anymore can he pay the listing and selling fee and pass on the lamp! So I email him back that I prefer to complete the auction but he could mail me $3.00 to cover the fees if he prefered not to take the lamp and I would still leave him positive feedback and expect the same from him.Several days ago I recieved his personal check for $3.00 and I immediatly leave him positive feedback without waiting for check to even clear. He has yet to leave me feedback!!!!!! For the life of me I do not understand why people will not carryout what THEY sould be doing without you having to ask them too several times EVEN IN A CASE WHEN YOU HAVE DONE THEM A FAVOR???

Mike, I know what you mean on the negative feedback issue, it looks like you need to kiss there :moonu: even if there not honoring the contract. I have 100% on mine and needed to kiss there :moonu: to keep my feedback 100%. I will only buy from sellers that have 100% because these sellers will go out of there way to make sure the sale goes well and sell better items because the are conserned about the sale and there feedback. :Comp: AL.

    I'll play devils advocate here......

As a seller.... the deal is only half done when you recieve payment.
There's enough jack@ss's on ebay to make me leary.
    Hypothetical situation....
    I sell a part.
    I recieve payment.
    I leave excellent feedback.
The scammer recieves his perfect part.
He emails me and says "it's a piece of crap and I want half my money back"

Now I have a decision to make. Suck it up and send him half his money just to get good feedback, or stand up to him because I know the part was good and end up getting bad feedback from the clown.

Lets face it. Paypal and Ebay don't care AT ALL about their members. They care about making money. Once a deal is done, they already have their cut of your money and don't want to deal with your problems. It's sad, but the jerks always win, and the nice guys finish last.

I have perfect feedback on eBay, but I've had to bite the bullet a couple times to keep it that way. Even when I knew I was getting screwed.
I've only left a few negative feedbacks, and have been VERY lucky that I haven't had any "retalitory" negatives as a result of them.

So I guess what I'm trying to say is.... I have to respectfully disagree about sellers supposing to leave pos feedback as soon as they recieve payment. You'd definately be letting your guard down by doing that. Too many scammers and jerks out there.

Rick, ther are safe guard out there for this. If a buyer is not happy with a item and you offer his money back and still is a problem and leaves you a negative Ebay will remove this from your feedback, but need to contact Ebay to cover your :moonu: and have all the e-mails to back you up. I'm sure it's possible for eBay to help you... and I guess it probably happens every once in a while....
But I've NEVER seen a story where it worked out because of eBay's help.
I could spend 30 seconds searching and find 1000+ stories about how eBay isn't helpful though.

Do you know first hand of a problem that Ebay was unwilling to help you with? Now that is you having all your ducks in a row like proof of e-mail THROUGH EBAY and all the needed information, AL.

As a seller. I will only leave feedback after the buyer has recieved the item and they are happy with it. This way,we can try to resolve any problems, first, before feedback is left. I feel this is fair to both parties. I also send the buyer an email when I recive the payment,as well as another,to inform them when the item is shipped, and any tracking numbers involved. After the all this,I will be glad to leave feedback first, and hope they will do the same. As a buyer,I will always email the seller to let them know I recieved the item and to work any problems,if there are any. I will then expect the seller to leave feedback first. If they don`t,I will send them a reminder to ask them if there is a problem. It has become a major PITA,to deal with some ebayers. As buyer,I recieved neg feedback for questioning where my item was, that I still never recieved. And this joker has huge neg feedback for taking other peoples money and not shipping. Then another for a buyer arguing shipping costs. Then dealing with people who will not pay with in a reasonable time frame,or even, not at all. I don`t send to appartments with out a signature comformation. I`ve had to refund money twice because people who claimed they never recieved their items, and you really have no way of knowing if they did or did`nt. I don`t ship outside of the US,had three bad experiances there. Figuring out shipping costs is always fun. Unless you ship alot and have the means to quote actual shipping rates. Finding packages for oddball items. And whats the deal with PRIVATE feedback ? I thought feedback was to show fellow ebayers if your a loser or a good guy ?

Ok,I`m done whining. Happy Holidays everyone. :3gears:

Dennis, if you don't report deadbeats that forward you negative feedback your cheating your self and the deadbeat is winning. As I posted before you have rights on Ebay and Ebay takes inconsideration the feedback and patterns of its members. You CAN have wrongful feedback removed!!! AL.
