I got started on this in April. A lot of time just buying and selling parts. Seems like every time you make one change it leads to 5 others.

The cable is a Lokar. The welding was done by a friend of mine in Fenton. Does nice work for reasonable price.

I wish someone would make a GS hood that had the center section raised about an inch and a half but kept the stock proportions. Seems like it might sell since there are so many of us having clearance problems.

Wow, It has been a while since this posting was updated, below is the latest progress.

Installed the mockup engine in the car and had several hood clearance issues. Had to go in a different direction with the turbo to carb tube routing and carb hat. Finally got the hood to close with good hood clearance, see attached pictures.

What type of turbos are you running?

Looks like you have a nice set up! Can't wait to see what it runs.

I'm no expert here but yourair hat concerns me some I have been involved in some testing of hats and I'm not sure you are going to get proper signal to the carb with that. just tossing in my .02$

Can you give us more info on what you found with the testing?

I don't mean to be a complete A$$ but I spent the time and money to learn this info and I will give it away but there are issues on this board that don't allow me to talk about my business as I'm not a paid vendor so it does tighten my lips some. I will say signal to the carb is very important and the way the air enters the carb is very important and that hat does not leave me with a good feeling.

Yeah, but what the hell does Bobb know? With his big friggin blow through 8 second car and stuff. Big deal!

Just guessing on my part our pump gas car running 8.24 was blind luck. but maybe some day I can figure this junk out.

The hood clearance thing is a major pain!! As I understand it boosted motors do not like dual plane manifolds, go to an Sp-1 and we run out of hood clearance. We need about 1 1/2 inches more (no Bobb jokes here) Working on an idea with a GN hood bubble. Will have to see when it gets here.

Don't know about the twin turbo setup but on my Procharger setup the intercooler was the easiest part of the job. A 4 inch core intercooler fits right in front of the radiator. Needed to mod the core support a little and have an extension welded onto the exit pipe.

Mark you better be careful you just might get struck by lightning.

Bobb, I hear that Oregon is a good place to vacation. And they even have a BOP event next year with a quick 16 class after the bracket classes are finished.

    Bob,

    Thanks for the input.

I don't like the carb hat that is on the car now either, my original plan was to use an extreme velocity carb hat with an 1" spacer, but after several attempts to get everything to fit under the stock hood with that combination, it just would not fit without cutting the hood.

So, after many months of stalled progress, I decided to move forward with something that fits. I'm hoping with limited boost that the carb hat influenece is not a major issue. My plan is to use an A/F monitor and tune with E85 and slowly increase boost to 8psi. I guess I will see what happens!

If the carb hat causes an issue and to see the impact of the carb hat, I could temporary remove the hood and install the extreme velocity carb hat and tubing.

Mr. Avery wht don't you give me your number in a pm and when it would be good to call you I might have an idea that would help

    Justa350 I'm BACK!

Greg, is there enough meat for me to cut your extreme velocity hat down? If I cut it at a slight angle the inlet could point downward a bit, and the highest part might tuck up into the area right above the carb, where there is a space in the hood bracing.

I've often thought that the Offy 360 intake would make a good low profile intake for a boosted engine that needs hood clearance. Not the best intake for low end but it would effectively be a single plane intake with the divider cut down and who needs more low end with boost? I'd cut about an inch out of the divider and that should be good. I believe it is also slightly lower than a B4B so that might help with running a better carb hat. I have one stashed away just in case. I'll have to measure the carb height.

Bobb, thanks for the input and advice. Changed back to the original extreme velocity carb hat shifted opening 90 degrees and everything fits under the stock hood with about 3/8 inch clearance. See attached pictures.

glad it worked out I think that is going to cause you much less problems than the the other hat would have. we got the super charger mount on my sons car today and we will finish up the brackets tomarrow and order the right length belt monday
