Two types. One is a flesh eating bacteria that enters through an opening in the skin. It can be found even in salt water. It can be stopped with prompt treatment.

Another is a brain eating amoeba often found in warm fresh water. It enters through the nose and not the mouth. It is fatal 95% of the time.

Well, I'm glad that I'm not a good swimmer and don't really enjoy going in a lake or ocean. I've lived near Lake Erie all of my life and not once have I ever gone in the water. Way too polluted for my liking.

I love swimming in the wild. Looks like I have to educate myself now that I have a family.

So the warm water must be the range of temperature this amoeba lives at.
How warm? Are we talking hot springs warm or lukewarm?

I heard the water in hot springs are plentiful with minerals.

Ethan dont be scared, jump your big ass in. Ask scuba Steve for a inclosed helmet.
And wear a condom, because I've heard of things swimming up the ol wee hole of people in the past.

A death just happened at local water park here in NC. Nope they did not close access to the water. It is a lake.
