I read your post, I may have some more questions when I dig into this, Thanks, AL.

TPP current version is actually pretty decent.

I believe they've had some different versions over the years but current version looks decent and is translucent.

Then post what they have Todd and I'll pull back my statement about TPP and direct fully at CARS.

The last one I got from TPP had the short crappy font that wasn’t even close.

I sold my last woodgrain kit last week but will have more here early next week.

So for today all I have to compare or show is the Black Version.

I rounded up another partial kit I had here from a while back. No idea where it came from but it's one of the "Bad" ones.

So this photo shows the current TPP version in Black and an older wood grain version from who knows . . . . . (That's all I can post for today)
I can add that the current TPP Version is printed on 3M vinyl and is translucent.
I will also add the current TPP Version probably isn't as good as the version Greg S. did but if his are gone then the question is, who currently has the next best option ? ? ? ?

What I find amazing is . . . . . we have 50 years of technology since these cars were produced. You would think with 50 years of technology on our side these companies could reproduce these products as good (If not even better) than they could 50 years ago.
I work with aftermarket parts every day! I do the restoration work in the morning hours Monday - Friday. (that's why my phone hours don't start until 1 pm) It's sad, but it's pretty rare when you can bolt on an aftermarket part and walk away with a smile on your face!!

At least with the restoration knowledge I've gained over the years I can be up front with my customers and tell them ahead of time what to expect. I believe there are plenty of guys on here that will attest to the knowledge I try and share while selling some of the parts offered on my website. I will always try and sell the best of that we have to choose from. It won't make everyone happy but it's better than what you'll get from most outlets. . . . .

There are parts I could be making money on but I refuse to sell them if they're going to leave the customer frustrated.

You'd think with the technology out there that at the very least, someone could make these dead on correct.

    It's kinda annoying, actually.

Hey @ToddsGS, you are the man! Helped me out a bunch.

For what it’s worth, here is a picture of the wood grain I bought thru OPGI back in 2015 which looks to be from REM. And my original heater unit.

I’ve installed the stickers on the dash but not the heater controls yet. Because I was thinking of leaving the original.

This is a non-A/C set I got off eBay from Speedway Automotive in AZ. I think these are pretty decent. The font is as close to original as I have seen and the woodgrain isn't godawful. And they're printed on 3M stock. I have no idea if the letters are translucent and I personally don't care because I rarely drive the car at night.

You will find the this is not like the original and will see light come thru the wood grain. As you posted it does not matter to you so you may be okay with it. Bill , Larry and I found a way of making the light some what correct, AL.

I'm really glad I never remover the original black factory transfer, at least now the light is divided correctly and the correct blue/green will show thru correctly.

I went thru all my GS parts and found a Greg Setter dash Wood grain set! Did not remember buying an extra set! woodgrain1.jpg

    AL,

Can you check on the status of translucency in Greg Setter's set you found? His fonts seem spot-on and I know the wood gran was as close as I have ever seen, if not the same as the original material.

The back lighting? The back lighting is a blue green shade and the back side of the transfer wood grain is blocked out no allowing light to exit thru the wood grain.

Greg's was the best I've ever seen. If he could do it, why can't others?

You'd be proud of me Al. I just installed a factory Delco AM-FM Stereo radio and removed the crappy Sparko radio that was in the dash. As it should be...
