So Im watching Dallas Car Sharks and they're bidding on this ratty 71 Skylark hardtop. Its a $700 car at best. Typical NE type rust and rot. They buy it for $3200! Then they "fix it up". At the end of the show, they show off the finished car- which has somehow turned into a post coupe! :Dou:

So the "finished car" is obviously a different car altogether. Plus the fact that they supposedly converted it into a 1970 GS with bucket seats. So, new quarters, new interior with buckets, a GS hood, GS grill, a set of rechromed GS bumpers, cam, intake, headers, carb. Plus a killer black paint job plus labor (which costs them something) . All for 6 grand more. Gimme a break

Some gas clown on here makes claims like buying twelve hundred dollar Corvettes and GS cars for 900 with NOS parts and finding WG wheels that were in some guys attic for decades. You can't believe anything you see or here anymore...

Wife dropped Velocity off our cable. I must say I miss Mark and the Graveyard Cars show.

The Vette was $800. Get it right bub....:bla:

Since this is my thread, I can hijack it- I had the opportunity to look at that 69 GS-350. You know, your "oh so mine" GS? Frame was rotted. Beat the guy down to a grand from 1500. I was going to offer him $700 but I was afraid he was going to say yes:Dou:

I stopped watching the Gas Monkey show some time back. Can't stand them, pure BS. You can see some of the cars that they've redone and sold earlier in the season (or a year or two prior) in the background of the garage when they are talking about their current build. The sad thing is these morons are laughing their way to the bank.

I think if the drivetrain is in good shape and the paint is as good up close as it appears in the pics, the price isn't all that bad. Maybe low to mid $20s IMO.

I always like how they get beautiful complete paint jobs for $ 900 to $1100 . Complete upholstery with door panels carpets and seats for $1200.

And all they try to do is screw each other weather they want the car or not. Even son to his mother.

    Another " Reality show "

Being that I fell asleep during the later showing, I just remember the cutting of the 1/4s being shown.
Now, I Do question somethings that Could be problems with the car in General. Has Anyone Noticed the VIN & recognized a Problem?
Yes, "Reality TV". Like "Fat & Furious", where those guys Drop Chevy Crate Motors in everything.
One sentence shows about 5 times in Every episode. "Let's put a Stroker in it."
I also think it is funny that just about every car You see there is "Goin' to run 12's because of "The Stroker", and cost about $20 Grand. (Have you ever noticed that the car they are modifying should have been there with a Mild Tune?)
The Exception, was the Vega, that they were going to put in the 9s-10s, will crack low 9-high 8 when ever he wants it to, and they had Nothing to do with that car's build.

    What, what, WHAT?

You can get a real one for that asking price ($28950), with a Buick interior. Hell, a 'real' matching#s stage1 4-speed (needing some work) is 32.5K...LINK
