What kind of wheels is everyone running on their Buicks. I'm not a real fan of the Buick Ralleys and am looking for something else. I kinda like the Cragar Street Star Wheels. Also what size wheels are you running how wide? Pictures welcome. :TU:
wheels personally I like the Buick Ralleys, but if I had the money I would put them up and go with the street stars myself. Very sharp looking and timeless to boot!:TU:
Love those Buick Rallyes but after seeing them on one too many 225, electra and regal I went with Cragar forged alloy S/S made by weld wheel. 15x8 with 275/60/15 on rear and 15x7 with 245/60/15 on front. It looks old school cool but with the advantages of modern technology.
my car has street stars with 235/60's all around on 15x8's. 4.125 BS, could probably go up to a 275 in the back. i like them, but they require lugnuts with a large shank that slip inside the wheel. pain to get on and off.
Wow, thats the exact combination I'm putting together for the RM wagon. I just picked up the 275/60/15 Radial TA's last night. Old school is cool - it will far outlast the look of the 18s and 20s, just another fad in my opinion. Mark
I've got centerline's on now, the fronts are 15x7 with p215 65 r15 and 15x8 p255 70 r15 in the back they are ok but dont look right on my gs. In the spring i will have 15x7 ralleyes all around with p255 60 r15's... the ralleyes just look like they belong there!
Hey Jeff, What color is your Riv? I'm looking to paint my '72 GS. The original color is Cortez Gold, and it is faded, and could use new paint. I probably won't paint it "original", but I do want it Gold, with GSX stripes. Yours is Cool!:bglasses:
wheeeeels I have 17x9.5 wheels on the rear and 17x8 inch on the front. Tires are 275/40-17 on the rear and 245/45/17 on the front. Run great, fill the wheel wheel and absolutely do not rub anywhere. Rides as good as it did with the 15x7 factory rallys that I removed. Handles a boatload better with the low profile Z rated tires.
17's on a Buick The wheels are billet 17's made by Boyd Coddington way back in 1992 right when 17 inch billets first became available. The style of the wheel is very dated but I like it better than the Buick rally's with 15 inch tires. I have always liked the low profile tire/wheel look. Different strokes for everyone. I have 17 inch Torque Thrust II's on my 67 BB Corvette coupe and they look great! My 72 Monte Carlo convertible will have 18's and 20's.
Thats one sweet ride Mike. I guess you're not the only one that likes the big wheel, low profile look. :TU:
I've had my 17's for 6 years now...... their Weld KC Stars, 17x8 and 17X9.5's . They quit making them about 2 years ago, so there no longer availible..... it's a shame too. I think they look real sweet on the GS. (the car in my avitar is mine)
I've got ROH 15 X 8"wheels off a BMW on mine with 225 60's on the front and 325 50's drag radials on the rear of my 70 GS. Got them for $100 for the set.
I am running Torque Thrust II's 17"x8" all around on a 245/45/17 Bridgstone SO3 Pole Position tire. Mark
Sorry Skeeter, but it's Buick Rallyes for me all the way. I am currently running 14" Rallyes on my '70. I would really prefer 15" with white letter BFGoodrich, but this is what I have for now. -Chris
Mark, So is the tire height you have now the same as a set of 15" ralley's with say a 245/60 series tires? BTW I really like the TT2's!:eek2: Jerry
