Same thing happened to me. I have a NOS replacement that I don’t put on the car, I use a cheapie Stant one.
I mentioned earlier about my fragile grill, made this up to "shield" it from leaners. I worry it may invite more than deter. Maybe I'll go to the flame cutters shop next town over and ask em how much to flame cut " Back Off" or " Don't Touch " , or " No Leanin'", or perhaps, " Buy or Build yer Own..."? Jim At the very least it will help direct airflow thru my radiator .....
Oh great another post bitching about what people do at a car show, cruise or whatever, what ever happened to live and let live! Last Fall I was at a show at a local dealership. A guy I worked with came by with his 3 year old Daughter and 4 year old Niece. They kept there hands off the car as they were told and he held them up so they could see inside. I ask them if they wanted to sit in it and their eyes got huge, so I let them take turns sitting behind the wheel, the smiles on their faces were priceless. That's what public gatherings are all about. Bob H.
I have two great examples of a good way to handle Cruise In Car shows that are not for major awards: 1. Local Cruise In Car Show that had around 200 vehicles on a Saturday. Walking the lines of Vehicle and come across this wonderful looking 56 Chevy Pickup. Then i notice a guy looking kinda confused behind the Truck???? I walked around it and notice he was staring kinda funny at me and my girlfriend. So feeling kinda weird about it being 18 and this Gentleman 60 i was about to walk away. Then i happened to read the sign he had sitting in the front bench seat. After i read it, i grabbed the door handle and proceeded to get in and sit down in the truck. The girlfriend starts slapping me and saying what are you doing!!!!. I pointed to the sign and then she walked around and got into the passenger seat. That guy that was looking funny walked up with a big smile. He said to both of us, "Thank you for reading my sign. Im glad you two got to enjoy what it feels like to sit in my truck" and then he walked away. The sign read something close to this: "Please have a seat and check out my Truck. Put your lover in the passenger seat and throw the kids in the back if you have them. This beautiful truck is for enjoying not showing." 2. Smaller Show and plenty of time to chat with people that drove in their classics. Me and the same girlfriend were chatting with a guy and his 32 ford coupe. Said the coupe was near original and heck i really think it was to be honest but i didnt know. After talking for about 10 mins discussing the car, he opened the door and said jump in and check it out. before i could say "heck yea" the girlfriend slammed her purse into my chest with a "HOLD THIS" and slide right into the 32. I had to wait my turn. That was a another cool guy letting some younger generation enjoy a old classic car.
Well , I am aware that the thread is about Cruise Ins / Car shows but I just mounted my anti-lean grill guard. I think it'll be a big hit at the car show. I'll have a big crowd round my engine bay. Hafta Uber home thou....Jim
Looking good, and may I say excellent beer choice, sir! I enjoy the Platinums when I'm feeling fancier than the regular old Bud Light, plus the blue bottles look really pretty after about 12 of 'em.
I rarely take the T to car shows, but when I do, I just take the key and go look at the other cars. The T has survived 92 years, and it can survive a couple of fingerprints. If I had a car with a $20,000 paint job I would probably feel a bit differently. BTW: I take the key not because someone might steal the car; I'm afraid some idiot would steal the key.
