Why do people take their car to a cruise in, open the hood. and line up chairs in front of the car? Last night, I saw several groups of 6-10 people in front of 2 or 3 cars. Why don't they just sit in their garage? The same number of people would still be able to see their car.

It’s called old age and not being able to stand for long periods of time. Weight has a lot to do with it too. Just wait, you’ll see!!

Weight and age has nothing to do with where you sit. Most people sit on the side or behind their car.

Maybe because "bits" have disappeared from the engine compartment at previous cruise-ins. Last cruise-in I took my car to, a couple of people thought it was ok to reach in and touch whatever they wanted. I doubt I'll open the hood again at a cruise-in.

Yup, my thoughts exactly, some people at car shows think that it's ok to have a hands on approach, I tell em you touch my car, I touch yer wife. Comprende'?
If their wife is hot, I ask em if they wanna take it for a ride.....I'm all about sharing...

Maybe the hood was casting a shadow and they were taking advantage of that? I've done it a few times myself.

don't go to car shows , if your anti social!
I sit and visit with friends that happen buy, usually offer them something cold to drink,
and answer questions to those who ask,
I guess you think a "cruise in" means just drive , and drive, and drive?
to me its drive, visit, look at other cars,
I seldom ,if ever, have anyone touch my cars, if they do,..... I have more wax,
just the difference between you and me, ( no criticism, just diff of opinion)

Man... soooo jealous! Up here the female population used to be cute little German- Swedish girls that all had bunches of babies and are now "Corn Fed Rooters".
In case you dont know what a rooter is, they are pink, cloven hoofed critters that "root" for truffles in the woods. The men folk look normal. I just assume they were "HOT" in high school and at old age love becomes blind. Hell... I aint no prize, just glad Pat loves me like she does LOL... ws

I seldom if ever sit at a show or cruise. I do have a chair but its pretty much used to put stuff on I dont want on the ground. When I first started showing I had mirrors set up under the front and rear bumpers to show the detailed undercarriage. Discovered by chance if I was standing at the trunk and looked down I could see straight up at whatever was standing in front of the car . The view was amazing. Started spending lots of time behind the car whenever a hottie would look at the engine.

The shows that I go to don't have anyone close to that standing in front of the car!:) On the downside, there's now fingerprints on the hood.:(

I had a friend who had a Stage1 oil cap lifted right off his valve cover at a car show. He taped it up for the drive home. I hooked him up with another one. People can be scum.

I keep the hood closed on my cars, one less area for the "experts" to tell me what is not correct/wrong on my car.
