My inclination is to say that if it has a kink, it shouldn't. I would consider installing PCV. The engine will run much cleaner.

Mine is buried in a box of old parts, so I can't really post a picture, but I do know what it should look like if you want to post one. There shouldn't be any "kinks", but it isn't a totally straight either.

Andy is right ,,, the pipe should have a ''offset'' made into it to clear the bell housing.....
And John is right ,,, a pcv system is much, much better and is easy to convert to... in fact If I remember right Russ Martin sells a kit to do this conversion.....

Russ does sell a kit, however you can easily piece that together at the local auto parts store. It's just a PCV valve for a later Nailhead, with a properly sized grommet. Not sure what would be available in Australia though.

    Hey Gary,
Even though you are "down under", Didja notice that neither Doc or I (both of us have been married for a long time) had any trouble figuring out who the "BOSS" is? Some things are universal!

yeah i guess they've all been tarred by the same brush eh:laugh: hey Doc just to let you know, when i replaced the head gaskets i had old mate that crack tested the heads do half your mod to the intake manifold ,it made a big difference.i will port match it myself when i get the carby recoed and fit the pcv kit should run more economical and responsive.thanks Doc,you too John :beers2:Garry ps got to put all that on lay buy. 162.jpg

Garry,,,, glad to see that you did the ddp mod while you had the manifold off.... so far there has not been a single negative result for that mod... all have reported big differences.... and the good thing is that increase does not fade away with time....and does not affect gas mileage,, unless,,,, you stick your foot in the carb all the time:laugh::laugh: like I do....

Doc i find its not to bad on fuel when cruising,no worse than the bosses diesel prado . uses more in stop start traffic around town,i'm lucky i've only got one set of traffic lights on my way to work. it loves the highway at about 80 mph. i've tried running it with the air cleaner lid upside down ,it seems to give a bit more grunt when you open it up but also uses more fuel,so it will be interesting to see what difference the carby will make when i get it reconditioned. i'll say goodnight for now, the boss just got home from work [studying at uni to be a nurse, first shift at hospital.] i'll get some shuteye before i start in the morning.:beer:beer Garry

If you pull the draft tube and replace it with a PCV valve, where do you hook up the vacuum tube to?

there is usually a large vacuum port at the back of the carb just above the base.... that is the port for the power brake.... just t off of it.....

The vacuum for the power brake comes off the intake in front of the carb...still OK to t off it?
