I heard that the only way you could see that car in your rear mirrior is to tape a picture to it! :spank:

    Noel the car looks great!
Did you drop the motor off at the machine shop yet?

The only way you'll see it in the rear view is if it is hooked to your bumper with a chain :moonu:  . Now my Runner is a different story......

Looks great, Noell. Ironic that's about exactly the way my 68 looked after paint, except it's red where yours is silver. You going to put the white pin stripe around the black? I know they're supposed to be that way, but I kinda like it without it. I may try a medium grey pinstripe on my red/black interface.

2 days to go.......... :bglasses: :bglasses: :bglasses:

Just a random thought - but we had a '68 GTO that was silver and then black on the decklid and around the rear window like that. :Smarty:

Ok - we now return you to your regularly scheduled thread :TU:

The white pin stripe is there it was done by hand. The picture quality won't allow you to see it. The paint came out really great I'm very happy with it

Now that the car is home I can start on the reassmbly. The bumpers are out at the replater and the interior is ready to go in. The frame has been powder coated the suspension rebuilt along with the rear end and the trans is done.I should be dropping of the motor next week at the machine shop.Still have to send many things out for repair, wood wheel, power antenna and some mics chrome. It never ends. What are you thinking for the big game?Straight up?Points?Remember I'm still licking my wounds from are bet two years ago

Even up, Noell. I'll give you a chance at double or nothing for the $5 from 3 yrs ago. Ironic part is that's the only game Michigan has won in the last 5 years! Record from the past is:

    Last 5 years, OSU 4:1
    Last 10 years, UM 6-4
Last 20 years, UM 12-7 (one tie)
Last 50 years, OSU 24-24 (two ties)

    Should be a great one.

Can't wait to get this 66 done and get on my red 68. After I'm done spanking all the Hursts with the 66, of course) :Brow: :Brow:

It'll be fun to match up my 68 with a real 68 Hurst (mine is only a W30). This W30 is the way I feel Olds should have done the 68 W30 originally. It will be Pure Stock legal except for the paint job. (numbers match 455, 4 speed, red/black). And no, it will not have redlines and dog dishes on it!

    Keith:

That combo was quite popular back then. I seem to recall a Cougar model (XR-7?) with a black deck lid about that time, maybe others.

I'll take that bet! Should be a dam good game.
The line forms behind that 69H/O from Missouri also there's that green car from Michigan ...........did I just type that? Sometimes I just run off at the mouth. Can you hear the conversation between me and my engine builder? Hello Jim its Noel yea I want to put my stock 68 H/O in the twelves.Oh yea on the stock tires and run the factory crappy manifolds.....Hello Jim...Jim!.........JIM! Were on for saturday :TU: Glad you kept the 66.BTW do you remember the white 66 L69 from years ago that was in a magazine? I think the car was on the west coast and ran in the twelves.

    Hey Noel,

What size tires are on the '68? I hope I can utilize the new rear (sounds kinky! ) and get the carb a little better off. Just gettin' ready! Also, Sounds like the "Party Barge" of Eric Simpson is wanting a piece of me next year! :Dou: I had better clue Santa in that I need a Christmas Tree so that I can show up ready to play on game day! I hope that you can get the bugs worked out by Stanton.

    I think G70 but don't quote me. :3gears:

  16. Dave H

    Dave H Well-Known Member

G70 x 14 is correct for the 68 Hurst. Narrow white stripe, not red, SSII wheels, but you may want to put dog dishes on it for that "sleeper" look that's Sooooooooo popular today. :Dou: :Dou:

Anyhow, back to the subject highjack at hand:

I know it is not as big as the OSU-UofM game, but K-State and KU have their annual battle this weekend. K-State is still riding high after beating Texas last weekend. KU still has to win one of their next two games to be bowl elligable (sp). Most KU fans do not even recognize they have a football team. They always say "We are a Basketball School!" Well, the "Basketball School" lost to mid-major Oral Roberts last night! Something more to needle them about! :spank:

    Noel,

I just looked at the Kelsey Tire website and they showed tread section of a G70-14 being 6.9 inches. Of course, I also looked up what a F60-15 is (my new tires) and they are showing 8.25 inch tread section. Guess mine is bigger than yours! :spank:

So Noell.................are we on for $5 even or not? Don't come back looking for a payback if you don't "consummate" the bet in public! (Boy, is that a neat word).

    :Do No: :Do No:

The 69 Hurst definitely has an advantage over the 68's (and every other Olds except 72 Hursts) with the F60 x 15's. Must be some old documentation that I can find that would show they were available on all 68's too. Maybe Dan Rather can help me make something up here? I hear he's out of work.
