Cant beat the factory holders BBBs; don't get nearly as hot near the plug as an SBC from radiant heat, but make sure the holders will fit the wires your using. 8MM wires wont fit too well but 6-7MM seems ok... Headers and SBCs back in the day meant silicone wires which were a new thing and $$$ and without would burn up and really run lousy! ws

The engine pictured goes to this car: http://www.v8buick.com/garage_vehicle.php?do=view_vehicle&id=63
The engine now looks different but the photos in the V8Buick Garage are no longer able to be edited so the old pictures can't be swapped out.

Yes these work with 7mm wires just fine. Look very closely at the package in the photo and you can barely see that it says 6mm - 7mm but the angle of the photo makes it hard to see. My engine pictured above has 7mm wires from Pertronix and they fit the wire retainers without issues.

Do you think they will work with 8mm wires?

You can use the stock looms and valve cover bolts with the studs on TA valve covers also. It's a little tricky but I have done it on both my GS's engines:

    Yes.

I wasn't sure so I went to the garage and took one of the new wire retainers and snapped it onto a different car that has an old set of Mallory 8mm plug wires and it appeared to work fine.

Do you run an electric or mechanical fuel pump?
    Motor looks nice and clean.

Yup, factory routing and the factory style holders are the to go.

No problem if your running steel covers.

For years I did all different types of studs and such to use this routing with aftermarket alum valve covers.

Then one day a customer walked in with these, it's a simple solution to the problem.

I told him that if he made up a few sets I would sell them on the board here..

I run the CV products mechanical pump that Jim Weise sells. He knocks the Chevy arm off it and replaces it with a Buick arm. This is the one,

Let me 1st start by saying my Distributor is 180 degrees off (the vacuum advance is still on)...

That said I use NAPA wires ( Bel 69406 )...

    http://www.napaonline.com/napa/en/p/BEL69406/BEL69406

    They list them like this:

Resists Termperatures Up To 1750 Deg F
Severe Duty Wire Set For High Heat Applications.
Extreme Temperature Ceramic Spark Plug Boots

They are also 8.5 mm wires...

These things are GREAT... I love the ceramic boots, they are tuff...

Yes they are pricy ( I get them for much less at my cost ), but it will be most likely the last set you buy, these things are built strong and last a long time...

Sorry I'm on a different computer so my photos are limited... I'll load some better ones when I'm on my main computer...
