You guys might like this story.. I am recently divorced and it was getting kinda boring taking my GS out for a cruise all by myself. I finally landed a date and couldn't wait to give her a ride in it. (What could be sweeter than that). We were driving thru this intersection when I saw out of the corner of my eye this Chevelle SS. It looked like a 1970 to me and he was revving her up to make sure I noticed. I did notice and could not help noticing the cute brunette in the passenger seat too! I had one small foreign car behind me and then he pulled out behind us. He kept driving up behind us real fast and then letting off, I knew we were going to race! I knew he had something pretty potent in it because I could here the Jackson timing gears whirling when he got on it.

We were heading down to the beach so I had the top down and my date's hair was blowing all over the place. The guy in the Chevelle was still toying with me as we were proceeding to get to the on ramp of the highway. As I turned onto the ramp the little car inbetween us was getting onto the highway too. I could see them talking alot and they knew we going to do something. This on ramp is a nice long straight section to the highway with a long view of the highway traffic. As I start down the ramp I am being very calm and cool(even though I was pretty pumped up about what was to happen, I dread the thought of being beaten and looking like a fool on my first date!) I shift to 3rd and am letting the RPM's come up when all of a sudden I hear him get on it for all it was worth! The Chevelle darted out onto the highway and went way over to the third lane. I then get on it and stayed in the first lane. There was a tractor trailer in the middle lane. As we both are screaming forward, I could not see him and he could not see me because the truck was right in the middle! I look over at my date and she's just pinned to her seat with her done up hair all over the place!! As we pass the truck I look over and I got him by a 1/2 car lenght and slowing pulling away more. By this time I know I am going at least 100 to 105 and it gets pretty windy in a conv. I knew I had beat him so I let off and he screams on by. About a mile up the highway we run into a little traffic and I end up slowing passing him. I look over at him and his girl and neither one would even look at me! I guess there is nothing more embarrassing then being beaten by a Buick and having your girl see it!! My date just had a big smile on her face!!

Don't get caught.....here in Mass., street racing will get you screwed, glued, and tatooed.:(

A friend of mine was bagged racing someone (me... ) and ended up loosing his license for 2 years. I got away, but it scared me enough to not do it anymore.

I also wish I knew what he had in the car for a motor. He wasn't that much slower. When he did let off there was some blue smoke from his exhaust.

ROCK, can't wait to get a rear in my car, so i can go have some fun :)!I already know two guys who swear they will woop me... One with a 350 chevy, built nice, but come on, small, bland and over used. and one with a nice 383. the 350 chevy is in a Regal (BOOO), the 383 however is in a 4 dr caprice, it's a cool ride... I however have a nicely built 455 (060 over) with stage one heads :),,,, once i get a rear, i don't think they will think they can woop me anymore.

    KEEP KILLING CHEVY'S!

Not to get off the subject, but. Gary let me guess. Your wife wanted the divorce? I have a 71 gs sitting in my garage waiting for the start of a restoration. Problem is I can't go home because my wife got a restraining order and then moved in her boyfriend. I think I am more worried about my car then her. At least thats a plus.

So yeah, great kill but also, it sounds like a good date. Hair blowing and 100 mph and she was smiling. My wife would've been P.I.S.S.E.D. if I would've done that with her in the car. Good for you.

Just to answer a few questions.. My x did ask for the divorce and luckily i was able to keep the car. I owned it way before the marriage so i think that helped! I think my date was so stunned she couldn't say anything. I said afterward that there was no way i would let that chevelle beat me!

    Bob,

I have been up to New England dragway a couple of times on Wed. nites.
Its alot of fun.. My best time so far is 13.7 @ 104.7 I have regular street tires and its real hard to get off the line good without spinning, especially with a four speed!!
