My 2023 Honda Accord has Google Maps and Assistant built in. The car comes with 3 years unlimited Data delivered by, you guessed it, AT&T. So for a short time Wednesday, I lost Google assistant and traffic updates on Maps. Was back up and running on Thursday though.
I'm with Comcast and had no signal during the middle of the day. I tried to call a friend on my landline during the same time period, but she only has a cell phone so no luck there. It seems OK now.
Another spy balloon over US. Source of EMP attack? If there was a large EMP attack, would it affect other electronics/wiring in our Buicks or would still be able to run just with points distributor?
Points should be OK but may have issues during the EMP. The electronic spark boxes, aka HEI and aftermarket version, will likely fail during the EMP and might or might not work after it ends, depending on their proximity to the EMP. EFI equipment will definitely fail during the event. Again, their proximity to the event will determine if they were fried or just disrupted.
If anyone believes we are being told about any and all threats...possibilities or even actual situations that happen by the brass in charge..you're delusional....there's no telling the amount of and level of things that go on.....we'll find out when it happens/too late
Anything with a computer will certainly fail, possibly forever if close enough. Anyone with a pacemaker is in a world of hurt if they get an EMP. Interesting fact, your microwave is a Faraday cage. You could put a laptop and cell phone in one and they'd survive but what could they access afterwards? Anything in your house connected to the power grid is in jeopardy. If you knew it was coming, throwing the main breaker might help, might not. Not enough information. However, airplanes are supposed to be EMP-hardened by FAA regulation. Most military hardware is also hardened against EMP. They actually sell a Faraday cage paint for your house but say goodbye to cell service and WiFi if your device is between a painted wall and your router.
