I read that it was a solar flare. Or whatever.

If something really was happening, we surely would know about it quickly with all the loudmouths on social media.

EMF. Check your Buicks. The ones w/o points.
    Do they ALL start?
If the ones that dont start dont have service, we might be on to something??

Interestingly enough, our Community Outside Warning System (COWS) went off about 10:30AM today. They don't know why. I'm not conspiracy theorist but things aren't adding up. I use AT&T towers but my carrier is Consumer Cellular and I've never had any outage today.

    That rules out solar flares.

My next (edumacated) guess is the different cellular frequency bands. I have a Samsun S20 5g that uses some older 5G frequency bands. Newer phones use a newer set of frequencies. My wife's newer iPhone 14 also works so I can't say for sure that theory has legs.

My conspiracy theory is hackers have infiltrated the network. We may never know because companies like AT&T are loath to acknowledge they were hacked unless the feds step in an divulge it.

I've been with Verizon since its inception, only problem is I've been with them since its inception and likely until my demise.

Honestly I can’t wait until they implant all the needed equipment into our brains, or at least fitted into my sunglasses. I’m getting tired of being glued to this brick that needs to be charged every day and I have to replace every 2 years for $1,000

Had my brick for around 8 years. It still does everything I need it to. Holds a charge all day. Gets turned off around 5 and face down on my desk. Back on at 8am

I'm a network engineer, worked around communications and software for all of 30+ year career. I don't want ANYTHING connected to me I can't control.

I don't have a smart thermostat or any cameras in my house. I have some Rings on the outside only. I have keyed doors, not smart locks.

The original problem they are saying was software update the failed AND the Verizon/T-mobile issues where their people having failed calls going to AT&T.

I never lost signal though using AT&T towers.

Might be a good idea to always keep a points distributor ready to go for such an emergency.

There was an X class solar flare that just blew the previous on out of the water. The previous one was a 5, this was a 6.3. Think earthquakes, those numbers are not linear, but more logarithmic style, so a 6.3 earthquake would be a lot stronger than a 5.0. These flares have the potential to knock out communications systems, and a large one, whew.

I only know this because since I was T-boned (in my truck as I didn't have my Buick then) and got concussion, I have been sensitive to geomagnetic storms. They set off my vertigo and headache like a dickens. These are the days I let someone else drive. Luckily, here in Alberta, I have Koodo, a subsidiary of TELUS. No problems that I could tell.
