And it's not like I didn't build 3 motors, 3 trannies, and did a bunch of other work in the meantime either.. cause I did.. Also.. this one is a bit more complex than the typical GS.. it has this..
And I am upset with myself, because I am a month behind my projected schedule.. I had to pull the LF fender off and repaint it.. some dork that looks a lot like me dropped the LF hood hinge on it.. and I miscalculated how long it takes for all that custom stuff.. there is tons more, but I won't bore you folks here.. That's why I was at work till 9pm tonight.. no excuses.. get it done.. One more..
Wow! Jim, Outstanding man, just outstanding! ps: The last shop my Limemist was in did not have a lift, can you believe that? ou: You have lifts my friend! :TU:
Couldn't imagine trying to build one without a hoist.. Of course being 6'5" makes you use it a lot.. night guys... I gotta go to bed.. (working tomorrow..) JW
George He never comes out of his engine building/ resto dungeon anyway. He does not know whether it is day or night or warm or cold outside. It would be a waste of good weather( high 74) to transplant him south. Beutimous job on TA's car!
Ya right.. We are building Buick's here, so nobody's gettin' famous.. And Jim your wrong.. I enjoy the weather tremendously... to and from work.... and at times like now, when I have one done.. JW
This is why we live up here! I'll take the cold for a few months to enjoy the summers of 75-85 degree days for 4 months and no humdity. We enjoy the clear/clean lakes. I have been in Atlanta and Arkansas in August and no thanks. We suffer in the winter and you suffer in the summer. No snakes in the water and no chiggers in the ditches. Just mosquitos here but thats only late evenings.
Jim That car looks great in the pictures but even better in person! :TU: I hope I can see completed it before it heads south! Great job!!
yes jim, trace's car looks sharp ! talk about weather, it was about 70 here on saturday. so warm i washed the truck, got soaked, and never even got chilled. today will be about the same it appears. very nice for janurary, sure helps the heating bill. no snow here this season, hope it stays that way. henry
JW, Those speakers under the seats - are they the type that really don't put much sound out but do vibrate the hell outta your butt with the bass? I forgot the techie term for it. Yuk mentioned something about using these in a convertible to get better Bass response without using a large subwoofer in the trunk, or hidden in a console. That car looks killer...too cool
Jim, you do awesome work.....that car looks great! :TU: Yeah, it's like spring here in Buffalo too.......my business is way down, nobody fixes snow equipment when it ain't snowing. If anybody remembers the blizzard of '77 (it made Buffalo famous for record lake effect snowfall )......well the lake ain't froze yet and this is just how it was back in early January of 1977.......it's coming, (I hope ) and after I make my killing this year I'm sending a few more parts out for re-chroming! :Brow:
They are actually a mid range speaker that's all custom autosound's "Stealth" system, except for the amp, which I added, as the reciever is a little wimpy in power. The Amp only runs the 6x9's in the rear seat support, so the gain is turned down pretty low on it. Also, we used their center speaker up front in the stock location. Now, I will tell you, the system sounded killer without the front seat in it.. I was sitting in the rear seat, with the front seat out, with the remote in my hand, and I thought it was the best thing for a ragtop, since the invention of Canvas.. but after installing the front seat, we lost some of the midrange and highs. It still sounds good. If your after the best sound, with the top down, then kickpanel speakers would prolly be a better option, with the gain turned up on the amp to run the rear speakers, loud enough to overcome the fact they are muffled by the top, and then you will still have a functional fader control. It sounds very good with the top up.. As with just about everything that goes in a street car, thre were limitations to the install.. namely we wanted to keep the interior looking exactly stock. The head unit is run off either a corded remote unit that I mounted in the glovebox, or by the RF wireless remote, which resembles a very small and thin cell phone. Here is the pic of the finished interior, and there is no hint of the fact that it has a 5 speaker system in it, with a 10 disc changer.. not looking inside, and not looking in the trunk.. this car looks stock.. and that was a major desire of the customer, and also why it has painted aluminum STG 1 heads, with factory exhaust manifolds. And why I went to the trouble of taking the Air pump all apart, removing the vanes from it, and will figure out how to hide the hose from it up around the manifold, once I get the air cleaner on. All this stuff is what really takes some time.. I have 2 hours in the air pump alone.. Here is that interior/dash picture. The Gearvenor control box is above the stereo control. Way to the left you can see the under carpet switch that is the manual control for the GV.
Pretty slick install there Doc. Whew --It is 70 again here today and a little too warm to work on cars. So I had to put the top down and take a little spin just to cool off.
your killin' me over here.. That weather better stay there for my visit, or it's all your fault.. it will prolly be 40* and raining when I get there.. JW
Truth JW get flynbuick to tell you how warm it was in Costa Rica where he spent the week before Christmas. When he got home on Christmas Eve , greeted to a snow and ice event. From Snow to 70's in one week. Move to the coast-- No snow!! John
It is true we had 1 inch Xmas night but the 60s and 70s since made quick work of it. 70s here until the end of this week and next weekend it crashes into the 60s. JW I can see you are going to wait until that fine Mn air arrives here to arrive yourself.
