In one way it's sad, but in another, it could by yours cheap for a future restore. Looks like a fixer-uper to me. If worse comes to worse, use a Skylark body and make a clone. Go for it! :3gears:

I'd try to save it.......You guys may have seen me type this before,But I am weak for a non-AC car.

What kind of $ does he want for it?

    Larry,
Sent you a PM. I hope that this car is saved, somehow. Thanks for posting the pictures. These cars just keep coming out of the woodwork!

The problem is, the cost to do all that bodywork plus the rest will probably run way more than the car is worth. I'm going though this right now, my ragtop (always wanted a convertible!) bodywork is done, but man did it cost huge money, floorpans, trunk floor, quarters, doors, fenders, outer wheelhouses..they made trunk dropoffs, and that is just the body...then there is the chassis, driveline, etc. You will be into it huge...BUT if it IS a real Stage 1, then its your chance to get it and putter and restore as you can.

I have a #'s matching 72 GS 455, no options except for N41 steering, posi, rallye ride, rally wheels and disc brakes....perfect buildsheet but its getting parted because the rust has taken over, nobody wants it and no way can I see myself doing another car after the ragtop.

I guess it depends what you want. If you take it on, be prepared for a long struggle....whether its worth it is up to you.

I got the same type of situation as Tim. I have a 72 GS 350 with some options: tilt wheel, am/fm, deluxe interior (with the fancy woodgrain on the door panels), a/c, speed alerter, a 3.42 posi etc. I can't restore this car or even make it a driver. The elements and 190,000 miles of driving in them have taken this car beyond anyone's repair. All along the tops of the windows is gone with much of the roof. The cowl under the glass is gone. Then there's the frame, quarters, doors, floors and fenders. But amazingly it has a really nice core support. I mean its solid under the battery. My 54,000 mile 70 GS even has holes there. It's now the parts car for the 71 post coupe I bought from my brother. I'd include a pic if I'd spend time to figure out how.

Hey Joe while your posting pictures, I'd like to see your sedan too!
    I just bought one myself, it's a 72.

This 70 is a great project for someone who has lots of time and can do most of the work themselves...perhaps a father son project?

Yes they "Stage1" cars do seem to be floating to the surface...Too Cool! :TU:

It doesn't have the SS code Carb on it. I can see, in the picture, that the code is missing along with the rest of the carb!
