    Thanks Rivman!
I dont know about that retaining not, but there was just the two tabs/clips, and I got the switch out.

Now Napa has the lock cylinder, but not the switch, I placed an order on the lock though. Do you think thats what it is? It was tough to turn and wasn't starting, so could it be the lock cylinder/tumbler?

Your guess is as good as mine Mike ? :Do No:
It's definetly possible - you'll know for sure when you try the new lock cylinder ! The tumblers do wear with age and use.
Now that you have it apart, try inserting the old lock cylinder into the switch and see how easy it turns, or doesn't - the switch contacts could also be causing the problem, and in that case you'll need a new, or used replacement.

The new lock did not work??? Car no start.
Could it be the switch? any more ideas? I don't know where else to get the switch from besides ebay, but don't want to get it until I know if thats it.

Did you jiggle the shift lever? If it starts after doing that, you need to adjust the neutral safety switch

If it still doesnt start, you need to break out the test light. I would check the purple wire at the neutral safety switch next. Turn the key to start and see if the light lights

The headlights will come on strong, but car no start, doesn't make a sound. but how do I test anything else?

I tried jiggling the shift lever, but nothing as well, didn't start. I knew that because my Ford had that problem and the linkage had to be fixed. But back to the Riv...

I did it before, I was moving around the shift lever and trying to start it.

But when I put my keys in and turn, my headlights will come on strong. I did that about half hour ago.

You have power at the purple wire?

Do you have power to anything else besides the headlights?

I never checked the wires, I just tried the headlights and they came on.
Yes, Basically power to just headlights.

Then you need to check the fusible links at the starter. One link is for the headlights alone, the other is for everything else.

You really need a get ahold of a test light and a volt meter

Test light and Volt meter, I don't have, I have to see if my friend has them and can lend it to me. So if I get the voltmeter, how and what would I need to test?

Okay, today I might be able to get ahold of a voltmeter, So what should I test now.

If you have no power to anything but the headlights, you probably melted one of the fusible links. Drop the starter and look at the wiring. On the big lug should be the positive battery cable, and two feed wires. Those two feed wires supply power to the entire car. One feed wire is for the headlights, the other is for the rest of the car. Both wires are protected by fusible links. Fusible links are sections of wire that are 2 sizes smaller than the feed wire they protect. They are made to melt and function like a main fuse in the event of a major short. The fusible links are closest to the starter solenoid. Take the starter down and carefully inspect them. You can get replacements at the auto parts store. They have them in the "HELP" section. The feed wires are 10, and 12 gauge. The fusible links are 14 and 16 gauge respectively.
