Wow, that Zaino looks great but, which one would I buy? Z1,2,3,4,5,6? I definately will try the clay bar first. Geeze, my right arm is going to get pumped like Popeye. Hope people don't start looking at me funny...

having detailed for a living i've used a wide arrange of products to off the shelf to full professional products so far a good through wash and a coat of meguiers #26 cleaner wax then follow with a good wax wax shop or meguires is fine of course wet sandng if necessary and buffing the finish would make for a better shine but machine buffing can be difficult and damaging to the finish if not done properly but take your time and use good quality products and you'll havew everyone staring at your ride!!

    Nick-

The Zaino goes on easy and comes off easy. It's not like buffing out wax that's been sitting in the hot sun or anything! :) And there won't be any white build-up to pick out with toothpicks either. It really is amazing stuff. Easier than it sounds.

Going from memory, you'd want to start with the Z1, then use either the Z2 or Z5 for as many coats until you're satisfied, probably not more than two. I think the Z5 gets rid of any small surface scratches (you know, the ones you see when the sun angles off the paint), while the Z2 has a slightly higher reflectivity.

And as has already been said, use a clay bar before whichever product you decide to use.

In the words of Mr. Miyagi:

    Wax on! Wax off!

    Take care,

    BONSAI!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm thinking about ordering from Zaino bros:

    Clay bars
then Z5 for swirls but, I'm not sure if I need the ZFX flash cure accelerator or not. It is recomended but, geeze this will end up around $60.00 just from them plus shipping, then when I go buy towels and applicators, we're talking $100.00 just for a car wash/wax. Pretty pricey so, I'm gonna be triple sure this is what I want to do and that it will last and deflect the LA air that I live in.

Every morning My car has a new layer of gunk on it and its pissing me off! I'd gladly pay the extra money if I'm sure it's that much better protection over a less expensive process, like Mguiers or something else. I know the clay bars right off will make a huge difference so that's a go but, I do need to choose a wax system before I use them. I like the idea of the Z5 for swirls cause I got a ton. It's not really a high-end paint job but, it is very nice and when I first tried the Mothers premium, it looked pretty good but, like I said it didnt hold up very well.

Thanks for all the help guys and keep it coming, I'm starting to get an idea of what is involved.

I would get two or three clay bars to be sure you have enough for the job. I believe I paid $115 including the shipping after I pruchased all the recommended stuff from Zaino including the accelerator. When 71GSX455-4SPD told me the stuff was so good a bird turd blew off while he was driving, I became convinced. I also saw some tests on the net here somewhere that was also convincing. I think they are still linked on the other thread I posted earlier.

Kyle, did you get the stuff yet? If so, how long was shipping and how were your results? Was it worth the price? etc..

    Thanks Nick.

    Nick-

Over on the Impalassforum.com site we buy Zaino from a guy named Kevin Overall. His email addesss is koverall@cddn.com and he does paypal. He sells a kit which has basically everything you need (Z-2 Show Car Polish, Z-5 Show Car Polish for Swirls, Z-6 Gloss Enhancer, Z-7 Show Car Wash, Z-18 Clay Bar, ZFX one step activator, and 3 Zaino applicators) for $84.70. Shipping is $7.95, but sometimes he throws shipping in, worth asking him anyway. He's pretty prompt with shipping too.

Good luck, can't wait until you try the bird turd test! :bglasses:

Today I broke down and ordered some stuff from Zaino bros. I have clay bars and Z5 on the way. About $43. Not cheap by any stretch but, if it comes out nice, it'll be worth it. I also picked up a bottle of Meguires Gold class at the Kraigen just to use after the Zainos or in between.

    E-Mail from Zaino bros....

We're happy to inform you that we've emptied your bank account and are shipping your order today. Please feel free to sell off your children so that you may be able to afford another bottle or two of our new improved products, as our old products are now out of date therefore rendering them useless.

  18. I might be the first to say Mothers, but I use the three stage system I think it's California Gold??? But I use it, my car sits outside everyday, and it lasts atleast two months in the summer.

I guess I'm using the wrong stuff. I've thoguht about the claybar from Meguiars but every box at WalMart looks either picked through or opened by a pack of wolves
