OK, I need some feed back on this one. I really enjoy the BPG events like the Nationals and the picnics. I want to the Miller Motors car show and it was a very nice event. I have been a slave to my GS at these kind of shows because of people damaging (by accident) my GS. I don't have this consern at our club events because we all share the same respect for our cars. At Millers a lady walked past my GS with her ring at hit the side of the car (most of it polished off) and later I saw a older man with his rear end against my hood (I'm glad the hood was shut!!!). Is this OK with you guys or I'm I ureasonable about this, Thanks AL.

Al, We saw that guy sitting on your fender!! I wonder what he would have done if you had done the same to his 65 GS.

    No!

Sorry for your trouble Al. I did not see it, but that drives me nuts. Most people at shows are respectful, but many are just stupid. The guy with the 72 for sale was all over my car with his fingers touching this and that explaining what his car had....that drove me nuts althought I was quite as he really was not hurting anything and my car is a driver. But scratches and weight are bad news. The couple with the gold GS 350 next to me had a major ding in their wheel opening trim from someone at Atlantic City and they didn't even know who did it.
Car folks showing at shows expect that the spectators keep their bodies and parts away from the cars! NO CONTACT! But its up to the owner to police it as some spectators are clueless. :error:
Whats more scary is when you are out and about and the general public has access to your car  ! I've caught a guy SITTING on my Harley and I don't want to go into the major $@& paint chip on my 67 427 Vette :Dou: !
But its the risk you take :af: to enjoy your car, lifes too short so I try to keep it in perspective, but it is hard!

Al, we are with you on this one :af:
Most folks at these events DO have a clue as to the pride we take in our rides and the level of care involved in keeping the cars nice BUT, some people need to be shocked with a cattle prod in order to keep them off our cars.
Just 2 weekends ago at Morocco IN. I came home with a scratch down to the metal just below the mirrow on the passenger door, :af:  boy was I ticked off, and ya can't buff it out.

We're constantly shoo-ing people off our cars at public shows....It's ridiculous. Some folks have no idea...

    Hose Squeezers??

My car needs paint so I had grown accustomed to the fender fondlers and the hood getting the ol' rub-a-dub.
This was the year of the hose squeezers.
I just don't know what is so fascinatin' about that poor long suffering cars' radiator hose. Seemed to be some primal urge moving the hands that would encircle that hose, and then the *squonk*, and away they would go with a smug look of satisfaction.
I have given it a few good squeezings myself but I can't really say it has done a great deal for me. :Do No:

Beth, sorry to hear about you wagon. The paint on the 72 GS is decent but not like the 68 Corvette on the 84 Century and I'm glad I didn't see anyone leaning on the Corvette or the Century because it would be ugly!!! A supervisor put a plastic cup on the hood (no damage done) of my 84 Century and learned to regret it. I'm nuts about the cars I have finished and have trouble enjoying a car show woundering what happening to my car when I'm not there. The only thing else I can say is the man that had his ass on my car is lucky it was not the one of the other two I own!!! AL.

Al, It was the old guy with the dark blue 65 GS parked next to us. He was leaning on the fender. You came up and moved your car. If I had seen any one sitting, I would hqave gone over and told them about it! Or maybe we could have gone over and proped our ass'es on his car. I am sure he would have had a fit!

One thing I've seen people do is go to a car show in groups. They set up their lawn chairs in the center of a group of four cars so if a couple of em decide to go check out other cars, the car their showing gets watched. I've heard of quite a few horror stories about what happens there. Like the how fond big dogs are of jumping on hoods of cars!!! Imagine that damage! The worst part is when I saw a kid running his hands over a car which had a "Don't Touch" mat on the running boards, a sign in the hood area, and in the windshield! When a guy walked past and said, "Ya know thats not your car, and you shouldn't be touching it. See the signs." His response was, "Oh, I didn't see the signs."
